How tall is Aoi Todo?

By Kashif Nazir KhanLast reviewed

Aoi Todo is 190 cm (6′3″) tall, according to the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Fanbook and volume profiles, as cited by the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki. Kyoto Jujutsu High's towering third-year brawler. His volume 5 profile gives his height as “over 190 cm”, so 190 cm is a minimum.

Aoi Todo's height: "over 190 cm" from the Volume 5 profile

Aoi Todo, the top-knotted brawler from Kyoto Jujutsu High, is listed at over 190 cm (6′3″+). The figure comes from the character profile in the fifth collected volume of Jujutsu Kaisen, which introduced the Kyoto students around the time of the Sister School Goodwill Event. This site uses 190 cm as his value, but that number is a floor, not an exact measurement: the profile only says he is taller than 190 cm, and no later source has given a precise figure.

That wording puts Todo in a small club. Gege Akutami used the same "over 190 cm" phrasing for Satoru Gojo and, in the Official Fanbook, for Panda. The three of them form the tallest tier of the main cast, and the manga's own Volume 5 extras state that Todo is about the same height as Gojo. Because both are open-ended, canon gives no way to say which of the two is taller.

Weight Not published —

No weight has ever been published for Todo, which is a pity, because his build is the first thing anyone notices. The wiki describes a very defined, heavy muscular frame, and Akutami's own Volume 5 notes compare him to a very skilled gorilla, referring to how he reached Grade 1 as a student despite coming from a family with no sorcerer background.

The tallest student at Kyoto Jujutsu High

Todo is the tallest student at his school, and the gap to his classmates is large. The table below uses the heights recorded on this site plus the published "over" figures from the profiles.

Character Height Difference vs Todo (190 cm) Connection
Aoi Todo over 190 cm — Kyoto, third year
Satoru Gojo over 190 cm About level Tokyo teacher
Panda over 190 cm About level Tokyo, second year
Kento Nanami 184 cm (6′0″) −6 cm Ally in Shibuya
Noritoshi Kamo over 175 cm −15 cm or less Kyoto, third year
Megumi Fushiguro 175 cm (5′9″) −15 cm Goodwill Event opponent
Yuji Itadori 173 cm (5′8″) −17 cm Self-declared best friend
Mai Zenin 170 cm (5′7″) −20 cm Kyoto, second year
Momo Nishimiya 150 cm (4′11″) −40 cm Kyoto, third year

The contrast with Momo Nishimiya, a fellow Kyoto third-year, is the most dramatic: at least 40 cm, or roughly the length of an adult's forearm and hand together. The Official Fanbook notes that Todo is a source of stress for Mai, Kamo and Momo alike, and that he once kicked Kamo in the rear after getting no answer to his trademark question about women. Being that much bigger than his classmates is part of why his behavior is so hard for them to manage.

Todo versus Yuji: the 17 cm "brotherhood"

The most famous relationship in Todo's story is with Yuji Itadori, whom he decides is his best friend, and later his "brother", after Yuji gives an answer he loves to the question of what kind of girls he likes. Yuji is listed at 173 cm in the Volume 1 profile, so the gap between the two is at least 17 cm.

That difference shapes how their scenes are staged. Todo fights with suplexes, stomps and rapid combinations, and the wiki notes that he could easily overwhelm Megumi and pummel Yuji early in their fight before switching to coaching him. Their partnership against the special grade curse Hanami, and later against Mahito in Shibuya, pairs a towering wrestler with a compact, explosive teenager. The Official Fanbook even says that if the two had gone to the same ordinary junior high, they would probably have found something in common. They would also have been, by a wide margin, the tallest and an average-height boy in the same class.

The fanbook adds one more detail that plays on Todo's size and social awkwardness: when he called Yuji his brother in front of Arata Nitta during the Shibuya Incident, Nitta assumed they were actually related. Given that they share neither a family nor anything close to a build, the misunderstanding is part of the joke.

Tall women and the Takada connection

Todo's catchphrase, asking people what kind of girls they like, came from his teacher Yuki Tsukumo, who introduced herself to him that way when he was a third-grader. According to the Official Fanbook, Yuki was also the origin of his preference for tall women. Yuji's answer, which wins Todo over, is the same: tall girls.

The object of Todo's devotion fits the pattern. His favorite idol, Nobuko Takada, is marketed as Tall Idol Takada-chan, and her surname even contains the kanji for "tall." Chapter 18 gives her height as 180 cm (5′11″), which is very tall for a Japanese woman. Even so, Todo stands at least 10 cm above her. The wiki notes that she wears platform heels, which would close much of that gap at a meet-and-greet.

Person Height Difference vs Todo (190 cm)
Nobuko Takada (Tall Idol Takada-chan) 180 cm (5′11″) −10 cm
Average Japanese woman (NCD-RisC, 1996 cohort) 158.3 cm −31.7 cm
Average 17-year-old Japanese girl (MEXT FY2025) 157.9 cm −32.1 cm

The fanbook says Takada actually recognizes Todo at her events, and describes him as the kind of fan who watches from the back with his arms folded. At over 190 cm, he would be hard to miss.

How Todo's size fits the story's design

The Official Fanbook contains unusually direct comments from Akutami about why Todo looks the way he does. Akutami based him on a senior he knew who wrestled at the national level, which explains the grappling-heavy fighting style. He also described Todo as his version of Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach: a character so strong that the people around him feel safe, because any danger turns into a gag when he shows up. Akutami said Todo is one of the rare characters who turned out exactly as he imagined.

The design leans hard on scale. Todo usually removes his jacket and tears his undershirt before or during a fight, revealing the muscle that his profile only hints at. His hair, tied into a top-knot bun, adds a few more centimeters to his silhouette. His cursed technique, Boogie Woogie, swaps the positions of targets with a clap, and the fanbook reveals it was originally called "Fruits Basket", after the chair-swapping party game. A very large man who wins fights by suddenly teleporting other people is a deliberate surprise; the build suggests brute force, but the technique rewards timing and cleverness.

Spoiler note, kept brief: Todo loses his left hand during the Shibuya Incident and later replaces it with a vibraslap so he can keep triggering his technique. In the spin-off Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, set decades later, the wiki describes him as an 86-year-old with a leaner frame and long white hair. No height is given for that older version.

Why so many Jujutsu Kaisen heights are approximate

Todo's open-ended figure is not a one-off. Akutami's profiles often give heights as a boundary instead of a number, and the pattern is worth understanding before you line characters up.

Character Published wording How this site records it
Aoi Todo over 190 cm 190 cm, treated as a minimum
Satoru Gojo over 190 cm 190 cm, treated as a minimum
Panda over 190 cm 190 cm, treated as a minimum
Suguru Geto over 180 cm 180 cm, treated as a minimum
Noritoshi Kamo over 175 cm Minimum of 175 cm
Yuta Okkotsu almost 180 cm Slightly under 180 cm
Toge Inumaki almost 170 cm Slightly under 170 cm

Two practical consequences follow. First, any chart that ranks Todo, Gojo and Panda against each other is inventing precision that the source material does not have; all three share the same floor, and canon only adds that Todo and Gojo look about the same. Second, the gaps between Todo and characters with exact heights, such as Yuji at 173 cm or Megumi at 175 cm, are minimums. If Todo were 193 cm, a perfectly plausible reading of "over 190," his gap to Yuji would grow from 17 cm to 20 cm.

The safest approach is the one this site takes: use the stated boundary as the value, flag it clearly, and avoid claiming more than the profile says. When fan sites list Todo at a specific figure like 195 cm, that number is an estimate, not something printed in the manga or fanbook.

Todo's 190 cm in real-world terms

Converted, 190 cm is 74.8 inches, just under 6′3″. The 190 cm page shows the full conversion and real people at that mark. Since his profile says "over," his true height could be anywhere from 190 cm upward.

For a Japanese man, that is extremely tall. The NCD Risk Factor Collaboration, whose estimates this site uses for national averages, puts Japanese men born in 1996 at an average of 170.8 cm as adults. Todo is roughly 19 cm above that. On the average height in Japan page you can see the full distribution of Japanese adult heights over time. He is also far above Japanese schoolboys his age: Japan's Ministry of Education measured the average 17-year-old boy at 170.6 cm in its fiscal 2025 School Health Statistics Survey.

Comparison Height Difference vs Todo (190 cm)
Average Japanese man (NCD-RisC, 1996 cohort) 170.8 cm +19.2 cm
Average US man (NCD-RisC, 1996 cohort) 177.1 cm +12.9 cm
Average 17-year-old Japanese boy (MEXT FY2025) 170.6 cm +19.4 cm
Hugh Jackman 190.5 cm −0.5 cm
Arnold Schwarzenegger 188 cm +2 cm

Real-world comparisons help with the build as well as the height. Hugh Jackman, listed at 190.5 cm on this site, is effectively Todo's minimum height, and Arnold Schwarzenegger at 188 cm offers a fair reference for the kind of bodybuilder frame Todo is drawn with.

Comparing Todo yourself

Because Todo's height is a minimum, the honest way to compare him is to treat 190 cm as the starting point and remember that he could be a little taller. The height comparison tool lets you place him beside Yuji, Gojo or anyone in the catalog, and the height difference calculator gives the exact gap to any number you enter. Comparisons worth trying:

  • Todo vs Yuji: at least 17 cm, the gap behind the series' strangest friendship.
  • Todo vs Gojo: officially level, both over 190 cm.
  • Todo vs Momo Nishimiya: at least 40 cm between two Kyoto third-years.
  • Todo vs Takada: at least 10 cm, before her platform heels.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Todo's height listed as "over 190 cm"?

His Volume 5 character profile does not give an exact number; it says he is over 190 cm. Akutami used the same open-ended wording for Satoru Gojo and Panda, so 190 cm is a minimum for all three rather than a precise measurement.

Is Todo taller than Gojo?

Officially they are tied. Both are listed as over 190 cm, and the manga's Volume 5 extras describe Todo as about the same height as Gojo. Neither has an exact figure, so canon does not say which of them is taller.

How tall is Takada-chan, Todo's favorite idol?

Nobuko Takada, billed as Tall Idol Takada-chan, is 180 cm according to Chapter 18. That makes her at least 10 cm shorter than Todo, though her platform heels narrow the gap in person.

How old is Aoi Todo?
