Real people the same height as Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi Fushiguro's height: 175 cm in the Volume 1 profile

Megumi Fushiguro, the reserved first-year who fights with shadow-summoned shikigami in Jujutsu Kaisen, is listed at 175 cm (5′9″). Like Yuji Itadori's figure, his height was published in the character notes of the manga's first collected volume, which VIZ Media released in English in December 2019. That makes 175 cm one of the oldest numbers in the series' canon, and it has never been revised.

The volume profile is not the only official data point. The Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki cites Chapter 172 for his weight, 60 kg (about 132 lb), and the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Fanbook for his birthday, December 22. He is 15 when the story begins and turns 16 during it.

The MAPPA anime uses the same figure. The only notable difference between the two versions of Megumi is his eye color, green in the manga and dark blue in the anime, which has no effect on height.

Tall and slim: how 175 cm and 60 kg read on the page

The wiki describes Megumi as relatively tall and slim, and his two official numbers explain why. At 175 cm and 60 kg, his body mass index is about 19.6, well inside the lean end of the normal range. Put that next to his classmate Yuji, who is 2 cm shorter but listed at 80 kg, and the contrast is striking: the two first-years are almost the same height, yet Yuji carries roughly a third more body weight.

That difference matches how the two fight. Yuji is a close-range brawler whose power comes from raw physical strength. Megumi relies on the Ten Shadows Technique, an inherited Zenin clan ability that lets him summon shikigami through shadows, and on weapons and hand-to-hand skills that, according to the Official Fanbook, Gojo and Maki taught him. His frame is built for speed and control rather than mass.

The hair factor

Megumi's most recognizable feature adds visible height without adding any to his official number. His black hair juts out in long spikes in every direction, which another character, Kinji Hakari, compares to a sea urchin. Akutami's own notes in Volume 1 say Megumi's hairstyle tends to be erratic. In group shots, that hair often makes him look several centimeters taller than Yuji, whose short undercut sits close to his head. The real gap between them, measured to the scalp, is just 2 cm.

Megumi Fushiguro compared with the Jujutsu Kaisen cast

These heights are the ones this site uses for the Jujutsu Kaisen cast, taken from the volume profiles and the Official Fanbook. Where a profile gives "over" or "almost," the table says so.

Character Height Difference vs Megumi Connection
Satoru Gojo over 190 cm +15 cm or more Guardian and teacher
Aoi Todo over 190 cm +15 cm or more Beat him up at the Goodwill Event
Kento Nanami 184 cm (6′0″) +9 cm Senior sorcerer
Yuta Okkotsu almost 180 cm about +4 cm Second-year senior
Megumi Fushiguro 175 cm (5′9″) — —
Yuji Itadori 173 cm (5′8″) −2 cm First-year partner
Maki Zenin 170 cm (5′7″) −5 cm Zenin relative, combat tutor
Mai Zenin 170 cm (5′7″) −5 cm Zenin relative
Nobara Kugisaki 160 cm (5′3″) −15 cm First-year partner

Among the three first-years, Megumi is the tallest, 2 cm above Yuji and 15 cm above Nobara. That 15 cm gap to Nobara is the same as the minimum gap between Megumi and the two tallest men around him, Gojo and Todo, so Megumi sits almost exactly halfway between the shortest and tallest members of his everyday circle.

Megumi and Gojo

Satoru Gojo has been part of Megumi's life since the first grade, when, according to the Volume 1 notes, the two first met. Gojo's profile lists him at over 190 cm, so even as a nearly grown teenager Megumi is at least 15 cm shorter than the man who acted as his guardian. Many of their scenes stage the difference deliberately, with Gojo leaning over or resting an arm on his students.

Megumi and Todo

The size gap between Megumi and Aoi Todo is central to one of the series' early fights. When Todo asks Megumi what kind of women he likes and gets an answer he finds boring, he attacks him. Todo's Volume 5 profile puts him at over 190 cm with a heavy, muscular build; with Megumi at 175 cm and 60 kg, the matchup was lopsided before either of them used a technique.

Family heights: Toji, Tsumiki and the Zenin clan

Megumi's father, Toji Fushiguro, was born into the Zenin clan and married into the Fushiguro name. The wiki describes him as a tall, muscular man and notes that Gojo saw a resemblance between father and son on first meeting Megumi, including the same green eyes. However, no official height has been published for Toji; his wiki infobox leaves the field blank. Any number you see quoted for him online is an estimate.

Through his father, Megumi is related to several characters who do have official heights. Maki and Mai Zenin, both listed at 170 cm, are described as his second aunts on the wiki's family chart. That puts the Zenin relatives in his own generation 5 cm below him. His step-sister Tsumiki, who raised him after their parents vanished, has no published height.

Megumi's height at different ages

Only one height has been published for Megumi: the 175 cm figure from Volume 1, when he was 15. The manga shows him as a small child in the first grade and as a junior high student at Saitama Urami East Junior High, but no profile gives numbers for those ages.

What we can do is compare his 175 cm with real Japanese teenagers. The School Health Statistics Survey run by Japan's Ministry of Education (MEXT) measures hundreds of thousands of students every year. In the fiscal 2025 results, published in February 2026, the averages for boys were:

Age Average Japanese boy (MEXT FY2025) Megumi at 175 cm
15 168.6 cm +6.4 cm
16 169.9 cm +5.1 cm
17 170.6 cm +4.4 cm

At 15, Megumi stands more than 6 cm above the average boy his age, which supports the wiki's description of him as relatively tall. Japanese boys typically gain only another 2 cm between 15 and 17, so even if Megumi grew at an average pace he would end up taller than the typical 17-year-old by a comfortable margin.

What happens to Megumi's height when Sukuna takes over

Spoiler note: this section touches on a late-manga turn, kept to what matters for height.

In the later arcs, Sukuna incarnates in Megumi's body. The Ten Shadows Technique page on the wiki notes that Sukuna, using Megumi's technique, summons a version of the shikigami Nue that is far larger than Megumi's own. The body itself, however, keeps its proportions. No official source gives a different height for Sukuna-in-Megumi's-body, so for comparison purposes that version of the character is also 175 cm. After the two are separated, the wiki notes that Megumi keeps three facial scars where Sukuna's extra eyes had been, a visible change that adds nothing to his height.

This matters for anyone building a comparison chart. Sukuna's original four-armed body is described on the wiki as tall and muscular, but it has no listed height either. The only Sukuna figures with a measurable height are the ones occupying Yuji's body (173 cm) and Megumi's body (175 cm).

Megumi's height in real-world terms

Converted, 175 cm is 68.9 inches, just shy of 5′9″. You can see that conversion and other people at the same mark on the 175 cm page.

The NCD Risk Factor Collaboration, whose national estimates this site uses, puts the average adult Japanese man born in 1996 at about 170.8 cm. Megumi is about 4 cm above that, or roughly in the upper third of Japanese men. On the average height in Japan page you can see how that average was reached over the 20th century. Against the US male average of about 177.1 cm for the same cohort, he would be around 2 cm shorter than the typical American man.

Reading Megumi's numbers carefully

A few details are easy to miss when comparing Megumi with other characters or with real people.

  • The height and weight come from different points in the story. The 175 cm figure was printed in Volume 1, when Megumi was 15 and had only just met Yuji. The 60 kg weight comes from Chapter 172, deep in the Culling Game arc, by which point he is 16. No source gives both numbers at the same moment, so his body mass index is an approximation.
  • Shoes add a little. His uniform is drawn with low-top brown shoes, which would add perhaps 2 to 3 cm in a real photo. Profile heights are treated as barefoot values, so compare him barefoot against other barefoot figures.
  • Hair adds more. His spiky hair can sit well above his scalp in many panels. Fan-made charts that measure to the top of the hair will overstate his height compared with characters who have flat hair.
  • There is no adult Megumi height. The manga's epilogue does not publish an updated profile, so any adult figure for him is guesswork.

Keeping those points in mind avoids the most common errors, such as treating Megumi as visibly taller than Yuji by a large margin, or assuming he must be heavier because he stands slightly taller.

How Megumi's size fits his role in the story

Akutami's comments about the character, summarized on Wikipedia, explain a lot about his design. In an early draft of the series, a version of Megumi was the protagonist, and editors judged that draft too gloomy. Yuji took over the lead, and Megumi was reworked as a foil to Yuji and Nobara, the serious one in a loud trio. A tall, thin build with sharp, upward-slanting eyes supports that reading; he looks guarded and wiry rather than imposing.

His fighting style follows the same logic. Megumi is often the smallest presence on the battlefield because his shikigami are the big ones: Divine Dogs, the bird Nue, Max Elephant and, most dangerously, the towering Mahoraga, which the wiki describes as a giant muscular humanoid. A 175 cm summoner surrounded by much larger creatures is a deliberate visual idea, and it explains why the character rarely needs to look physically intimidating himself.

If you want to see where Megumi lands against any character or person, the height difference calculator shows the exact gap, and the height comparison tool lets you put him next to Yuji, Gojo or Nobara at true scale.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Megumi Fushiguro weigh?

Megumi is listed at 60 kg (about 132 lb), a figure the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki cites to Chapter 172 of the manga. At 175 cm that gives him a slim build, far lighter than Yuji's 80 kg at 173 cm.

Is Megumi taller than Yuji?

Yes, by 2 cm. Both heights come from the Volume 1 character profiles: Megumi at 175 cm and Yuji at 173 cm. The gap is small enough that posture and Megumi's spiky hair often decide who looks taller in a given panel.

Did Sukuna change Megumi's height when he took over his body?

No height change is recorded. When Sukuna incarnates in Megumi's body late in the manga, the body gains Sukuna's markings and later leaves facial scars, but no official source lists a different height, so 175 cm still applies.

How old is Megumi Fushiguro?

He is 15 at the start of Jujutsu Kaisen and turns 16 during the story; his birthday is December 22, according to the Official Fanbook. His 175 cm height was published while he was 15.

Yes. Maki Zenin is listed at 170 cm, so Megumi, who is related to her through the Zenin clan, is 5 cm taller. Her twin sister Mai is also listed at 170 cm.
