How tall is Adam Driver?
Adam Driver is 189 cm, which is about 6′2½″ (6′2.4″ to be exact). That figure is the height statement on his Wikidata entry, which cites his biography on IMDb, and it is the value this site uses. Like most actors, Driver has not published a doctor's measurement, but the listing is consistent with how he compares with co-stars whose heights are well documented.
There is also an unusual cross-check. The official Star Wars reference book The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary gives his character, Kylo Ren, a height of 1.89 m, exactly the same as Driver's own listing. The book does not explain how the figure was chosen, but the match is exact to the centimeter.

From Mishawaka to the Marines
Adam Douglas Driver was born in Fontana, California, east of Los Angeles. After his parents divorced, he moved with his mother to Mishawaka, Indiana, where he was raised largely by his stepfather, a Baptist minister. He sang in the church choir and was active in choir and theater at Mishawaka High School, appearing in school productions of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Into the Woods and Guys and Dolls. He has described his teenage self as a misfit.
He applied to the Juilliard School and was turned down. After a short-lived attempt at an acting career in Los Angeles at 18, which ended when he ran out of money within a week, he returned to Indiana. Shortly after the September 11 attacks, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Height and service
Driver was assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, as an 81mm mortarman. He served for two years and eight months before fracturing his sternum in a mountain-biking accident.
After the Marines, he spent a year at the University of Indianapolis, then auditioned for Juilliard again and was accepted. He has said that classmates in the Drama Division found him intimidating and volatile at first, as he adjusted from military life. He graduated in 2009 and married his Juilliard classmate Joanne Tucker in 2013. He also founded Arts in the Armed Forces, a nonprofit that brought theater to military communities until it dissolved in 2023.

He received Oscar nominations for BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story, won the Volpi Cup at Venice for Hungry Hearts (2014), and was nominated for a Tony for the 2019 Broadway revival of Burn This.
On stage
Driver has kept returning to the theater. He made his Broadway debut in George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession in 2010, won a Lucille Lortel Award for the off-Broadway Look Back in Anger, and played Pale opposite Keri Russell in the 2019 Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This, a performance critics called explosive. In 2024 he played the fictional country star Strings McCrane in Kenneth Lonergan's Hold On to Me Darling off-Broadway, earning Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle nominations.
Outside acting, he has hosted Saturday Night Live four times, most recently in December 2023, and served as an honorary starter at the 2023 Indianapolis 500, held in Indiana, the state where he was raised.
Kylo Ren: a character built to the actor's size
Driver was cast as the villain Kylo Ren in early 2014, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on December 18, 2015. He returned in The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). StarWars.com's databank describes Kylo Ren as the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, a dark-side warrior who led the Knights of Ren and rose to Supreme Leader of the First Order.
The official reference books give the character concrete measurements. According to Wookieepedia's summary of the sources, The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary lists him at 1.89 m (6′2″), and The Force Awakens: Head-to-Head lists his mass at 89 kg. The height matches Driver's listing exactly.
Kylo Ren next to the Skywalker family
Because the reference books give heights for most of the saga's characters, Kylo Ren can be compared with his relatives in canon as well as on set. The site's character data gives these figures:
| Character | Canon height | Difference from Kylo Ren |
|---|---|---|
| Darth Vader (in armor) | 203 cm | +14 cm |
| Kylo Ren / Ben Solo | 189 cm | — |
| Han Solo | 180 cm | −9 cm |
| Luke Skywalker | 172 cm | −17 cm |
| Rey | 170 cm | −19 cm |
Darth Vader, whose legacy StarWars.com says Kylo Ren set out to fulfill, is the only one taller, and his height is measured in armor. Han Solo, his father, is 9 cm shorter in canon, and Luke Skywalker, his uncle and former teacher, is 17 cm shorter.
The actors behind the family
On set, the real-world comparisons are similar. Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo in five films, is listed at 185 cm, about 4 cm shorter than Driver. Daisy Ridley, who played Rey, is listed at 170 cm, matching Rey's canon height and about 19 cm shorter than Driver. StarWars.com's databank recounts how Rey bested Kylo in a lightsaber duel at the end of The Force Awakens, a fight in which the smaller fighter won.

Affleck played Count Pierre d'Alençon. The film's central duel set Driver against Damon, who is about 11 cm shorter. Affleck, at 192 cm, is one of the few co-stars who stands taller than Driver.
Marriage Story and House of Gucci
In Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story (2019), Driver and Scarlett Johansson played a couple going through a divorce. At 160 cm, Johansson is about 29 cm shorter. The two reunited in James Gray's Paper Tiger, which premiered at Cannes in 2026. In Ridley Scott's House of Gucci (2021), Driver played Maurizio Gucci opposite Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, with Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons and Salma Hayek also in the cast. In Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis (2024), he played Cesar Catilina, a visionary architect in an alternate New York restyled as New Rome, opposite Giancarlo Esposito as the city's corrupt mayor. The film premiered in competition at Cannes and divided critics.

Weight, build and physical transformations
No studio or official body lists Driver's own weight, so this page does not give one. His build has nevertheless been a public topic. In 2020 his muscular frame became a running joke on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Driver eventually appeared on the season finale to demand an apology. In 2021, his shirtless appearance in a Burberry fragrance campaign went viral.
He has also changed his body dramatically for a role. While filming Martin Scorsese's Silence (2016), in which he played a 17th-century Portuguese Jesuit priest, Driver lost almost 50 pounds. His height, of course, stayed the same; only the build changed.
