Pete Davidson's height: what the record says

Pete Davidson is listed at 190.5 cm (6′3″). That is the figure attached to him in entertainment coverage, including a 2023 E! Online profile that referred to his 6-foot-3 stature. Unlike an NBA or NFL player, a comedian is never put on a stadiometer in front of reporters, so there is no "measured versus listed" history to unpick. What exists instead is a single reported number, and no reputable outlet consulted for this page gives a competing figure.

The exact conversion is 6′3″ = 75 inches × 2.54 = 190.5 cm, so the site's value is simply the imperial figure expressed in metric.

Growing up on Staten Island

Biography.com records that Davidson was born Peter Michael Davidson on Staten Island to Amy and Scott Davidson. His father, a firefighter with Ladder 118 in Brooklyn, died responding to the September 11 attacks in 2001, a loss that runs through much of Davidson's comedy, his semi-autobiographical film The King of Staten Island (2020) and the Peacock series Bupkis (2023), in which Edie Falco plays his mother and Joe Pesci his grandfather.

Nothing in the public record says how tall Scott Davidson was, and it would be speculation to guess, so this page does not attach a height to either parent.

According to Biography.com, Davidson did his first stand-up set at a Staten Island bowling alley at 16 on a dare from friends, graduated from Xaverian High School in 2011 and briefly attended St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights. From 2013 he appeared on MTV series including Failosophy, Guy Code and Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out, and in 2014 he made his televised stand-up debut on Comedy Central's Gotham Comedy Live, followed by spots on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and a guest role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. TheWrap credits Nick Cannon with discovering him and notes that Hannibal Buress championed him at his weekly show at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory.

A 6′3″ newcomer at Saturday Night Live

SNL announced Davidson as a featured player on 15 September 2014, for the show's 40th anniversary season. At 20 he was, as TheWrap and ET Online both noted, one of the youngest cast members in the show's history, though not the youngest: Anthony Michael Hall was 17 and Robert Downey Jr. was 20 when they joined for a single season in 1985, and Eddie Murphy was 19 when he began his four-season run in 1980. ET added that the season would premiere on 27 September with host Chris Pratt.

Biography.com explains how the job came about. Davidson had a small part in the Amy Schumer and Bill Hader comedy Trainwreck (2015); Hader was impressed and recommended him to producer Lorne Michaels, which led to an audition. Davidson left the show in 2022. He became best known for his Weekend Update appearances alongside anchor Colin Jost, delivering commentary on his own life and current events, for characters such as the easily distracted Chad, and for pretaped music videos.

SNL connection Height (site data) Difference from Davidson
Pete Davidson 190.5 cm —
Chris Pratt (host of Davidson's first season premiere) 188 cm −2.5 cm
Eddie Murphy (joined at 19 in 1980) 175 cm −15.5 cm
Robert Downey Jr. (joined at 20 in 1985) 173 cm −17.5 cm
Kate McKinnon (castmate) 162 cm −28.5 cm

The Downey comparison is a quirk of history. Like Robert Downey Jr., Davidson joined the show at 20, but on the site's figures the two would look very different side by side: Davidson is about 17.5 cm taller than the future Iron Man actor. Kate McKinnon, one of the castmates Davidson named in his farewell message as performers he felt he could never keep up with, is listed at 162 cm.

Davidson versus film co-stars

The most useful way to understand a reported height is to stack it against people whose heights are recorded on this site. The table below uses the site's canonical values for performers Davidson has shared a film or series with.

Person Connection to Davidson Height Difference
Pete Davidson — 190.5 cm (6′3″) —
Idris Elba The Suicide Squad (2021) 189 cm (6′2½″) Davidson +1.5 cm
John Cena The Suicide Squad (2021) 185 cm (6′1″) Davidson +5.5 cm
Amy Schumer Trainwreck (2015) 170 cm (5′7″) Davidson +20.5 cm
Kaley Cuoco Meet Cute (2022) 168 cm (5′6″) Davidson +22.5 cm
Margot Robbie The Suicide Squad (2021) 167.6 cm (5′6″) Davidson +22.9 cm
Joe Pesci Bupkis (2023) 160 cm (5′3″) Davidson +30.5 cm

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is the most interesting comparison because it put Davidson in an ensemble of action stars. Biography.com describes his role as Blackguard, a mercenary, as brief but important. On the site's figures he is the tallest of the three leads listed here, 1.5 cm above Idris Elba and 5.5 cm above John Cena, two actors who are usually among the tallest people in any cast.

The same cast also included Sylvester Stallone, listed at 177 cm on the site, who voiced King Shark; Davidson would stand 13.5 cm above him. Wikipedia's cast list describes Blackguard, whose real name in the film is Richard "Dick" Hertz, as an easily manipulated mercenary who betrays the first Suicide Squad team to the Corto Maltese military.

Davidson and Justin Bieber

One of Davidson's earliest high-profile stand-up appearances outside SNL was the Comedy Central roast of Justin Bieber in March 2015, where, according to Biography.com, he drew attention for jokes about his own father's death on 9/11. On the site's figures, Bieber is 175.3 cm, so the roaster stood about 15 cm taller than the guest of honor.

Bupkis produces the largest gap in the table. Joe Pesci, who plays a version of Davidson's grandfather, is listed at 160 cm, more than 30 cm shorter than the man playing his grandson.

How 6′3″ compares with American men

Davidson was born in 1993. The NCD Risk Factor Collaboration's estimates, which the site uses for country averages, put the average U.S. man born in 1996 at 177.1 cm. Davidson is 13.4 cm taller than that, a little over five inches. You can explore the cohort data on the average height in the United States page.

The most recent measured U.S. data come from the CDC's National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for August 2021 to August 2023. In that survey, the median American man aged 30 to 39, Davidson's current age group, is 176.4 cm, the 90th percentile is 185.1 cm and the 95th percentile is 187.1 cm. At 190.5 cm, Davidson stands above the 95th percentile, taller than at least 95 out of every 100 men his age. The height percentile calculator will give you the exact percentile for any height and age group.

Why entertainers' heights are harder to pin down than athletes'

It is worth being clear about how much confidence a 6′3″ figure deserves. In professional sports, height is a published statistic on official rosters. Entertainment has nothing like that. A comedian's height comes from interviews, agency profiles and press coverage, and once a number is printed it tends to be copied from outlet to outlet.

That does not make Davidson's figure doubtful, but it does mean it should be read as a reported height. In his case E! Online's 6-foot-3 description matches the site's 190.5 cm, and none of the outlets reviewed for this page gives a different number. Wikidata, often a useful cross-check, records no height for him.

How to compare yourself with Pete Davidson

If you want to know how you would stand next to him, set your height in the height difference calculator against 190.5 cm. A 5′9″ man (175 cm) would be 15.5 cm shorter. A woman of average American height (161.2 cm in NHANES) would be about 29 cm shorter. A man of 6′0″ (183 cm) would still be about 7.5 cm shorter.
