Suguru Geto vs other Jujutsu Kaisen characters
Real people the same height as Suguru Geto
Suguru Geto's height: over 180 cm
Suguru Geto, the former special-grade sorcerer who becomes the main antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, is officially over 180 cm (5′11″ or more). The figure comes from the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Fanbook, published by Shueisha on March 4, 2021, and in English by VIZ Media on April 23, 2024. According to the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki, his profile appears on pages 112 and 113, where his height is phrased as a minimum rather than an exact number. The site records 180 cm and notes that the real figure could be higher.
Geto shares this open-ended format with his best friend Satoru Gojo, who is listed as over 190 cm. Gege Akutami seems to have reserved the "over" phrasing for the two prodigies of their generation, while most other characters in the fanbook get exact figures.
At the minimum, 180 cm is 70.87 inches, which rounds to 5′11″. The 180 cm to feet page shows the conversion in detail. If Geto were a few centimeters taller, he would reach 6′0″, but no official source says so.
What the Official Fanbook says about Geto
The Official Fanbook is the first data book for Jujutsu Kaisen. It covers the four-chapter prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High and the main series through chapter 133. Besides the height line, the wiki's summary of Geto's profile includes:
- Age: 27, with a birthday of February 3, 1990.
- Enrollment method: scouted, unlike Gojo, who entered through family lineage.
- Specialty: martial arts.
- Favorite food: zaru soba served on a woven bamboo tray. Least favorite: none.
- Source of stress: taking in cursed spirits.
That last detail connects to the core of his character. Geto's technique, Cursed Spirit Manipulation, requires him to absorb curses by swallowing them as black orbs. In the flashback arc he describes the taste in disgusting terms and reflects on doing it over and over for the sake of people he increasingly resents. The fanbook's dry "cause of stress" entry is a quiet nod to that.
The "martial arts" specialty also matters for how his size reads. Geto is not just a summoner hiding behind curses. He fights hand to hand when he needs to, and a frame of over 180 cm gives him reach in those exchanges.
Geto and Gojo: a 10 cm gap
The most important comparison for Geto is with Satoru Gojo. The two were classmates at Tokyo Jujutsu High, alongside Shoko Ieiri, under Principal Yaga, and they were called the strongest pair of their generation.
| Suguru Geto | Satoru Gojo | |
|---|---|---|
| Official height | Over 180 cm | Over 190 cm |
| Site value (minimum) | 180 cm (5′11″) | 190 cm (6′3″) |
| Birthday | February 3, 1990 | December 7, 1989 |
| Enrollment | Scouted | Family lineage |
| Technique | Cursed Spirit Manipulation | Limitless and the Six Eyes |
| Japanese voice | Takahiro Sakurai | Yuichi Nakamura |
Using the minimum values, Gojo is at least 10 cm taller. In the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death flashback arc, adapted by MAPPA as the opening of the anime's second season, Gojo is consistently drawn taller, while Geto's long black hair, tied in a half-bun, and his earrings give him his own strong silhouette.
Wikipedia's account of their creation explains how Akutami paired them. He chose Geto as Gojo's friend after researching Buddhist monks' robes and noticing that one style, the gojō-kesa, shared Gojo's surname. He also matched their given names to their personalities: Satoru, meaning "enlightenment", for the born prodigy, and Suguru, meaning "outstanding", for the one who earned his strength. The robe Geto wears as an adult is that gojō-kesa, with five columns of stripes. In a sense, Geto wears Gojo's name on his back.
The height gap mirrors the relationship. Gojo is the effortlessly superior one, visibly taller whenever they stand side by side. Geto is the one who has to work, think and carry the burden of every curse he swallows.
Geto next to the cast of Jujutsu Kaisen 0
In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Geto attacks Tokyo Jujutsu High to take the curse attached to Yuta Okkotsu. He faces Yuta's classmates first, and then Yuta himself.
| Character | Height (site data) | Difference from Geto (at 180 cm) |
|---|---|---|
| Maki Zenin | 170 cm | −10 cm |
| Toge Inumaki | 170 cm | −10 cm |
| Yuta Okkotsu | 180 cm | 0 (or less) |
| Kento Nanami | 184 cm | +4 cm (or less) |
| Panda | 190 cm | +10 cm (or less) |
| Satoru Gojo | over 190 cm | at least +10 cm |
Maki Zenin and Toge Inumaki are at least 10 cm shorter than Geto, and Panda is the only second-year who stands taller. Wikipedia notes that Geto easily defeats Yuta and his friends while Gojo is away, before Yuta takes control of Rika.
The final duel is between two men of essentially the same listed height. Yuta Okkotsu is 180 cm in the site's data, and Geto is "over 180 cm". The fight is decided by Rika's overwhelming cursed energy, not by size. Geto uses his strongest technique, Maximum: Uzumaki, which Wikipedia says Akutami named after Junji Ito's horror manga Uzumaki while deliberately avoiding too close a reference. He loses an arm in the battle and is found by Gojo shortly afterward.
Among the adults, Kento Nanami, who was Gojo and Geto's junior at Jujutsu High, is 184 cm. Depending on Geto's true height, Nanami may be slightly taller than him or about the same.
Geto as a student and as a curse user
Geto's story covers roughly a decade, and the fanbook height applies to the adult version. In the flashback arc he is a second-year student of about 17, already tall and drawn close to Gojo's size, though slightly shorter. No separate height has been published for the teenage Geto, so the "over 180 cm" figure should be read as describing him in his twenties.
The turning point of that arc comes when Geto, assigned with Gojo to protect a girl named Riko Amanai, begins to question why sorcerers should sacrifice themselves for non-sorcerers. Not long afterward, during a mission to a remote village, he finds two girls, Mimiko and Nanako Hasaba, imprisoned by villagers who fear their abilities. He kills the villagers, adopts the girls, and leaves Jujutsu High. The wiki lists the two as his adoptive daughters. They remain loyal to him for the rest of his life.
As an adult curse user, Geto leads a religious group that he exploits for money and cursed spirits, while he plans to eliminate non-sorcerers altogether. His height and calm bearing help sell the role of a charismatic cult leader. In Jujutsu Kaisen 0 he openly declares war on the jujutsu world and launches the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, releasing a thousand curses in Shinjuku and Kyoto as a diversion while he targets Yuta at Jujutsu High. Wikipedia notes Akutami's view that Geto was powerful enough that he might have won had he handled that plan differently.
The same body, a different man
Jujutsu Kaisen complicates any discussion of Geto's height because his body outlives him. After Geto dies at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku takes over his corpse using a brain-transplant technique, marked by the stitched scar across the forehead. The "Geto" who appears in the main series for most of the story is Kenjaku in Geto's body.
Since the body is Geto's own, its height is Geto's height. No separate figure has been published for Kenjaku as he appears in that body. Wikipedia notes that Akutami compared Kenjaku with Orochimaru from Naruto, another immortal who moves between vessels, and that Akutami later hinted that the body memory in one of Geto's arms suggests the original Geto is still resisting.
For height comparisons, the practical rule is simple. Whether a panel shows Geto in the flashback arc, Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, or Kenjaku wearing Geto's body in Shibuya, the body is the same one, and the fanbook's "over 180 cm" applies.
How Geto's look was built
Akutami created Geto after enjoying Shinobu Sensui, an antagonist from Yoshihiro Togashi's YuYu Hakusho, and wanted to explore a character who prejudges others, according to Wikipedia. His surname came from the ski resort Geto Kogen. Akutami dressed the adult Geto as a monk to contrast the false religious group he leads with the trust real monks command.
Several visual details contribute to how tall he appears on the page:
- The monk's robe. The long gojō-kesa falls to his ankles and makes him look taller and broader in full-body shots.
- Long hair in a half-bun. The bun sits high on the back of his head, adding to his vertical line.
- Calm posture. Geto is usually drawn standing still, hands in his sleeves, while curses do the work. That stillness makes him look composed and imposing even beside taller characters.
The wiki also records a small discrepancy in his coloring: his eyes are purple in the manga, confirmed in chapter 271, but brown in the anime. His height, by contrast, is consistent across the manga, the anime series and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film.
What 180 cm means in the real world
At his minimum height, Geto would be tall in Japan but not extreme. The site uses NCD-RisC estimates of adult height by birth cohort, from the collaboration's 2016 eLife study of 200 countries.
| Population, 1996 birth cohort | Average man | Geto's minimum difference |
|---|---|---|
| Japan | 170.8 cm | +9.2 cm |
| South Korea | 174.9 cm | +5.1 cm |
| United States | 177.1 cm | +2.9 cm |
| Netherlands | 182.5 cm | −2.5 cm |
Against the average height in Japan, Geto is at least 9 cm taller than the typical man of a similar generation. In the United States he would be only about 3 cm above average, and in the Netherlands, home of the tallest men in the dataset, he would sit slightly below the national mean. Among real people in the site's database, actor Brad Pitt is listed at exactly 180 cm, the same as Geto's minimum, so a side-by-side shows the smallest height Geto could officially be. Try him against other real people with the height difference calculator.
Popularity and voice cast
Geto is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai in Japanese and Lex Lang in English. Wikipedia reports that Sakurai was shocked by the Kenjaku reveal when he read the manga before recording the film, and that Lang enjoyed the hidden depths in the character. In the official popularity polls recorded on the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki, Geto placed 15th in the first poll and then fourth in each of the next three, with 19,156 votes in the fourth. For a character who is dead before the main story begins, that is a remarkable run, and it keeps his height among the most searched in the series.
