Real people the same height as Inosuke Hashibira
Inosuke Hashibira's official height: 164 cm
Inosuke Hashibira, the boar-masked swordsman raised in the mountains in Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is listed at 164 cm (5′5″). It is the height in his official character profile as recorded by the Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki, which also lists his weight as 63 kg. Profiles for the main cast were published in Shueisha's first Kimetsu no Yaiba fanbook, Kisatsutai Kenbunroku, released on July 4, 2019. Converted precisely, 164 cm is 64.6 inches, or 5 feet 4.6 inches.
That number describes Inosuke's body, not his costume. Inosuke almost never removes the boar's head he wears over his own, and the mask adds a large, bristling shape on top of his skull. In nearly every group shot of the main trio he looks like the tallest of the three. On paper, he is the shortest.

Body height versus mask height
The difference between Inosuke's official height and how tall he looks is the most interesting thing about his numbers. The boar head is a full animal head, with snout and ears, worn like a helmet. When the trio stands together, the mask's top sits well above Tanjiro's and Zenitsu's heads, so a viewer judging by silhouette would rank Inosuke first.
The official profile ignores the mask, as height measurements always do with hats and headgear. Inosuke is 164 cm, half a centimeter below Zenitsu and one centimeter below Tanjiro. If you want an honest comparison, imagine the scenes in which he takes the mask off. Without it, Inosuke has a slight build and a delicate, almost feminine face, a contrast the series plays for comedy whenever another character sees him unmasked for the first time.
The mask also connects to his origin. The Japanese Wikipedia entry on the Demon Slayer Corps describes him as a foundling raised by boars, citing the bonus story in Volume 10. The boar head is a link to the animals that raised him, which is why he treats it as part of his identity rather than a costume. That matters for height charts. Many fan-made lineups measure characters to the top of whatever they wear, which inflates Inosuke by the full height of the boar's head and can push him above taller characters such as Mitsuri or Enmu. When you compare him using this site's numbers, he is measured the same way as every real person in the database: standing straight, headgear off.
Inosuke in the main trio
| Character | Height | Age | Difference vs Inosuke |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tanjiro Kamado | 165 cm | 15 | +1 cm |
| Zenitsu Agatsuma | 164.5 cm | 16 | +0.5 cm |
| Inosuke Hashibira | 164 cm | 15 | — |
Inosuke and Tanjiro
Tanjiro Kamado is 1 cm taller. Their first meeting is a fight: Inosuke attacks Tanjiro at the Tsuzumi Mansion, determined to prove himself the stronger fighter, and he spends much of the early story treating Tanjiro as a rival. The two are the same age, and the 1 cm gap is invisible in practice.
Inosuke and Zenitsu
Zenitsu Agatsuma is half a centimeter taller and a year older. Their personalities could not be further apart: Zenitsu is terrified of everything, Inosuke afraid of nothing. In height they are effectively twins, and in the anime they are drawn as the same size; the mask is what makes Inosuke look bigger.
Inosuke next to the Demon Slayer cast

| Nezuko Kamado | 153 cm | −11 cm |
| Shinobu Kocho | 151 cm | −13 cm |
Inosuke and Rengoku
On the Mugen Train, Inosuke fights under Kyojuro Rengoku, who is 177 cm, 13 cm taller. According to the film's Wikipedia summary, Inosuke's mask makes him resistant to Enmu's sleep attacks, and he exposes the demon's neck bone so Tanjiro can strike it. When Akaza arrives at dawn, Inosuke can only watch as Rengoku, much larger and far stronger, fights to the end. Akaza, at 173 cm, is 9 cm taller than Inosuke.
Inosuke, Doma and Kanao
The most important comparison in Inosuke's story is with Doma, the Upper Rank Two demon, who is listed at 187 cm, 23 cm taller. Doma is the demon who killed Inosuke's mother, Kotoha, after she fled to his cult with her baby. In the Infinity Castle, after Doma kills Shinobu Kocho, Kanao Tsuyuri takes over the fight, according to the 2025 film's Wikipedia summary, and Inosuke joins her. Kanao is 156 cm, so the two young fighters facing Doma are 23 and 31 cm shorter than him.
Inosuke and Shinobu
Shinobu Kocho, at 151 cm, runs the Butterfly Mansion where Inosuke recovers after Mount Natagumo. He is 13 cm taller than her. Her death at Doma's hands, and the role of her poison in his defeat, connect the two characters in the final arc.
Inosuke in the Entertainment District
In the Entertainment District arc, Inosuke goes undercover with Tanjiro and Zenitsu on the orders of Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, who is listed at 198 cm. The 34 cm gap between them is one of the largest between Inosuke and an ally, and the arc's comedy leans on it: three teenage boys in makeshift disguises next to a towering, flamboyant ninja. When the fighting starts, Inosuke's flexibility, which the Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki describes as extreme enough to bend his body far backward, matters more than anyone's height.
Training under the Hashira
During the Hashira Training arc, the Corps' younger members rotate through drills run by each Hashira. For Inosuke, that means training under figures ranging from Muichiro Tokito, at 160 cm and 4 cm shorter than him, to Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira, at 220 cm and 56 cm taller. Gyomei's training, which involves moving enormous boulders, is the one that tests the younger fighters' strength most directly. Gyomei is more than a third taller than Inosuke, so the boulder that is a workout for one is a wall for the other.
The jagged swords: a small fighter's weapon
Inosuke's two Nichirin swords are as distinctive as his mask. He deliberately chips their edges with a rock, turning clean blades into saw-like weapons that tear rather than slice. The Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki, citing the official fanbook, notes that this habit makes him hated by his swordsmith and the uniform makers, but it also suits his style. Serrated blades reward close-range, chaotic fighting, and a compact 164 cm swordsman who fights from crouches, rolls and twisted angles gets more use out of them than a tall fighter who relies on long, clean arcs.
Dual-wielding also changes how big he looks in action. With two swords spread wide and a boar head on top, Inosuke's fighting silhouette is much wider and taller than his body. That is part of why first-time viewers often guess he is the largest of the trio, and why fans are surprised when they see his official number.
A body built for the mountains, not for height
Inosuke's fighting style comes from his life in the wild. He taught himself Beast Breathing, wields two serrated Nichirin swords, and is extremely flexible, able to twist and contort his body in ways other swordsmen cannot. He senses opponents through his skin: the English Wikipedia character list describes this as feeling vibrations in the air, a sense of touch rather than smell or hearing.
None of those traits depends on height. A 164 cm fighter with exceptional flexibility and spatial awareness is well suited to the forests and cramped interiors where many demon fights happen. Gotouge draws Inosuke as compact and lean-muscled, usually shirtless, which emphasizes agility over size. The boar mask adds the visual menace his small frame might otherwise lack.
Height in the Taishō era
Demon Slayer is set in the Taishō era (1912 to 1926), and people in Japan were much shorter then. This site's Japan average height page, built from NCD Risk Factor Collaboration data, puts Japanese men born in 1896 at about 156.2 cm and those born in 1926 at about 161.9 cm. A 15-year-old in the 1910s belongs to a generation born around the turn of the century, so Inosuke stands roughly 8 cm above the average adult man of his own generation, at age 15.
| Comparison group | Average height | Inosuke's difference |
|---|---|---|
| Japanese men born in 1896 (NCD-RisC) | 156.2 cm | +7.8 cm |
| Japanese men born in 1926 (NCD-RisC) | 161.9 cm | +2.1 cm |
| Japanese 15-year-old boys, 2025 (MEXT) | 168.6 cm | −4.6 cm |
| Japanese men born in 1996 (NCD-RisC) | 170.8 cm | −6.8 cm |
That makes his upbringing even more remarkable in context. A child raised by animals in the mountains, with no regular access to the food of a village household, would be expected to grow less, not more. Our World in Data, summarizing the research on human height, notes that poor nutrition and illness in childhood limit human growth. Inosuke's height is fiction, but by the standards of his era he is a well-grown 15-year-old.
What 164 cm means today
By modern Japanese standards, Inosuke is short for his age. Japan's Ministry of Education measured the average 15-year-old boy at 168.6 cm in its fiscal 2025 survey, so a present-day Inosuke would be around 4.6 cm below his peers, and he still has a few years of growth ahead of him at 15.

Voice actors and comparing Inosuke
Inosuke is voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka in Japanese and Bryce Papenbrook in English. The roars and boasts that define him are part of why fans often imagine him as bigger than he is.
To see him without the mask advantage, put him beside Tanjiro and Zenitsu in the height comparison tool, where the three figures stand within a centimeter of each other. The Demon Slayer character hub lists every Corps member and demon tracked on the site.
