How tall is Anya Forger?

Anya Forger, the telepathic girl at the center of Tatsuya Endo's Spy x Family, is 99.5 cm (3′3″) tall. Unlike most of the cast, whose heights come from the Spy x Family Official Fanbook: Eyes Only, Anya's number appears in the manga itself, on the first page of chapter 7. The anime adapts the scene in episode 6, and the Spy x Family Wiki cites both. This site uses the same figure, including the half centimeter, which is the kind of precise detail you'd expect at a school measurement.

At 99.5 cm, Anya is just under a meter tall, and her height is easily the most precise in the series. It's also one of the hints about the series' biggest running secret about her, which is her real age.

How old is Anya, and why it matters for her height

Anya's age is a deliberately fuzzy part of the story. Loid adopts her for Operation Strix, his mission to get close to a politician through Eden Academy, and Eden only accepts children of 6 or older, so her papers are forged to say 6. When Loid first meets her in chapter 1, he privately guesses she's around 4 or 5. In the author's note for Volume 13, Endo made the point that a child born when Spy x Family began serialization, in March 2019, would now be about Anya's age, which the wiki reads as confirming she's roughly 5.

Her height supports the younger estimate. The CDC 2000 growth charts, the standard pediatric reference in the United States, give these medians for girls and the percentile that 99.5 cm represents at each age:

If Anya really were 6, 99.5 cm would put her at about the 0.1st percentile, shorter than 999 of every 1,000 girls her age. At 5, she would be around the 4th percentile, short but within the normal range. At 4, she'd be almost exactly average. Endo's note and Loid's first guess suggest 4 or 5, and the measurement fits those ages much better than it fits 6.

In the real world, a single height reading never tells you a child's age, and pediatricians judge growth by tracking it over time, not from one number. The table is a way to put a fictional measurement in context, not a diagnosis. Anya versus the Forger family and her classmates

Anya's size is the source of much of the series' visual comedy, and the numbers explain why. Here she is against the main cast, using this site's data from the Official Fanbook and the manga:

Loid is almost exactly 1.9 times Anya's height, so she reaches roughly his belt. Yor is about 1.7 times her height. Scenes where Anya rides on Loid's shoulders, clings to Yor's leg or has to be lifted to see something all follow from those proportions.

Her classmates are the more telling comparison. Damian Desmond, the politician's son Operation Strix depends on, is listed at 110 cm, more than 10 cm taller than Anya. Becky Blackbell, her best friend, is 104 cm. Anya is the smallest of the trio, which fits a girl who is probably a year younger than everyone in her class.

Design history: Anya was going to be older and taller

Anya didn't start as a tiny preschooler. According to the bonus sketches in Volume 1, cited on the wiki, Endo originally planned her to be older and taller, with a more serious expression. The Official Fanbook (pages 204–205) shows a range of rejected designs, from conventionally pretty to sickly-looking, including one with dark circles from lack of sleep.

The final design combines elements of two characters from Endo's earlier one-shot manga, Ashe from Rengoku no Ashe and Misha from Ishi ni Usubeni, Tetsu ni Hoshi, according to the Fanbook (page 199). Her telepathy also came late. Endo always intended Loid to adopt a child with some kind of power, but only later saw the comic potential of a mind reader who knows everyone's secrets and has to act like an ordinary kid.

Making Anya younger and smaller sharpened that comedy. A very small child who understands the adults' hidden thoughts, but can only respond like a 5-year-old, is funnier and more sympathetic than an older, taller version would have been.

Anya next to other tiny characters

At just under a meter, Anya is one of the smallest human characters in this site's database. A few non-human characters are smaller still:

Are all the Eden first-graders drawn small?

Anya isn't the only small child at Eden Academy. If you run her classmates' Fanbook heights through the same CDC charts, a pattern appears. Assuming each child is 6, the age Eden expects, here is where they would fall:

Damian, the tallest of the three, would be somewhat below average for a 6-year-old boy, and Becky would be very short for a 6-year-old girl. That suggests Endo's official figures are on the small side for the whole class, which is common in manga, where young children are often drawn and sized to look especially young. It also means Anya's gap from her classmates matters more than her raw percentile. Against children who are all drawn small, she is still clearly the smallest, 4.5 cm below Becky and 10.5 cm below Damian. That is about the difference you'd expect between a child of 5 and children of 6.

If the classmates were a year younger, the numbers would look ordinary. At 5, Damian's 110 cm would be around the 62nd percentile and Becky's 104 cm around the 24th, both well within the normal range. Nobody in the story suggests Damian or Becky lied about their age, though, so the most likely reading is simply that the series sizes its children small.

Picturing 99.5 cm

In feet and inches, 99.5 cm is 3 feet 3.2 inches, a little under 40 inches. For a sense of scale:

• A meter stick. Anya is half a centimeter short of a standard meter rule. Stand one up next to her and its top would be level with her crown.
• Loid's height. At 187 cm, Loid is 1.88 times her height. If Anya stood on a chair about 88 cm high, she'd be eye to eye with him.
• Yor's height. At 170 cm, Yor is 1.71 times her height. Anya's head would come to about Yor's waist.
• Yoda. Star Wars' 66 cm Jedi Master would come up to roughly Anya's chest.

Those proportions explain a lot of the series' visual comedy. Anya often has to be carried, lifted or helped up just to see what the adults are looking at.

Why you can't predict Anya's adult height

Fans often ask how tall Anya will grow. Standard methods can't answer that. The most widely used predictor for children, the Khamis-Roche method, combines a child's current height and weight with the heights of both biological parents. Loid and Yor are her adoptive, fake-marriage parents, and Anya's biological family hasn't been revealed in the series. A projection based on Loid's 187 cm and Yor's 170 cm would be meaningless, because she doesn't share their genes.

Even the simpler approach of following a growth curve breaks down, because we don't know her exact age. A girl of 4 at 99.5 cm is tracking close to the median. A girl of 5 at the same height is tracking well below it. Childhood percentiles also shift as children grow, so even a known age would give only a rough guide. Anya on screen

The anime, produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, began in April 2022, with a second season in 2023 and a third in late 2025, according to Wikipedia. The film Spy x Family Code: White opened in Japan on December 22, 2023. It was directed by Takashi Katagiri, and Endo supervised the production and supplied original character designs. With the creator involved in the designs, the film keeps the family's proportions consistent with the manga. Anya is still drawn at about half of Loid's height, and the size relationships among the three Forgers match the Fanbook figures. None of these adaptations publishes a different height, and the anime animates the chapter 7 measurement directly in episode 6, so 99.5 cm is the shared canon for manga and anime alike.
