Where Spy x Family heights come from

Tatsuya Endo's Spy × Family has been serialized every two weeks on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ app and website since March 2019, and had reached 17 collected volumes by April 2026, according to Wikipedia. The anime by Wit Studio and CloverWorks began in April 2022, with further seasons in 2023 and 2025 and a film, Code: White, released in Japan in December 2023 and in the United States and Canada in April 2024. Wikipedia reports more than 42 million copies in circulation by April 2026, so the cast's official measurements reach a very large readership.

Almost every official height in the series comes from one book: SPY x FAMILY Official Fanbook: EYES ONLY. The Spy x Family Wiki lists it as a 230-page Japanese release from Shueisha on May 2, 2022, published in English by VIZ Media on October 3, 2023 (216 pages) as Spy x Family: The Official Guide―Eyes Only. Its publisher's description promises character details, unpublished rough drawings and an extensive interview with Endo, covering the first nine volumes of the manga.

Two heights come from other places. Loid's figure also appears in his "Twilight" profile in Volume 1, and Anya's 99.5 cm is taken from a page of the manga itself, chapter 7, rather than the Fanbook.

Spy x Family heights at a glance

Bond, the family's dog, is not in the site's list, but the Fanbook gives him a height of about 1 meter, roughly level with Anya.

The table divides neatly into adults between 166 and 187 cm and Eden Academy children between 99.5 and 110 cm. The wiki's own descriptions match the numbers closely: the three women at 170–173 cm are all described as tall or fairly tall, and Franky at 166 cm is described as average.

The Forgers: a family of very different heights

The fake family at the heart of the story could hardly be more varied in size.

Loid Forger, the spy codenamed Twilight, is 187 cm (6′2″). His Volume 1 profile gives an unusual weight: 70 to 90 kg (155 to 200 lb), a range rather than a single number. The wiki describes physical feats such as escaping a trained military dog with parkour and leaping from a tall bridge to catch a thief.

Yor Forger, the assassin known as the Thorn Princess, is 170 cm (5′7″). The wiki gives her age as 27 and describes her as fairly tall and graceful, with a slender frame.

Anya Forger, the telepathic girl Loid adopts, is 99.5 cm (3′3″), the figure taken from chapter 7. The wiki notes that she is noticeably shorter than most of her classmates and that her small size is a frequent target of teasing from Damian and his friends, with jokes about her short legs a particular sore spot.

Loid is 1.88 times Anya's height. In everyday terms, a 99.5 cm child standing next to a 187 cm adult comes up only to about his hips.

Anya was meant to be older

One design detail explains why Anya is so small. According to the wiki, which cites bonus sketches in Volume 1, Endo originally planned Anya to be older and taller, with a more serious expression. The final character is younger and much smaller, and her height has become part of her comedy. Her age is uncertain in the story itself: the wiki lists 6 on her forged identity papers and an approximate age of 5 from an author's note in Volume 13.

Bond, the dog who matches Anya

The Fanbook gives Bond's height as about 1 meter, which puts him almost exactly level with Anya. The wiki describes him as a large dog of indeterminate breed with fluffy white fur and black paws, and suggests from his size, coat and snout that he is mostly Great Pyrenees. Before joining the family he was Subject 8 in an Ostanian research program called Project Apple, which left him with the ability to see the future. A dog standing eye to eye with a child is an unusual pairing: Bond is listed at roughly the height of a 5-year-old, while Loid stands nearly twice as tall as either of them. In the site's 3D tool, Anya and a 100 cm figure are practically indistinguishable in height.

The adults around the Forgers

Yor's younger brother Yuri Briar is 179 cm. The wiki gives his age as 20 and describes him as fairly tall and slender. He is 9 cm taller than his sister and 8 cm shorter than Loid, whose alter ego Twilight he repeatedly confronts.

Loid's handler Sylvia Sherwood is 173 cm. Her Fanbook profile, as the wiki summarizes it, adds that she has poor eyesight, which is why she wears glasses.

Fiona Frost, codenamed Nightfall, is 172 cm, described as fairly tall and slender. That puts her 2 cm above Yor and 15 cm below Loid.

Franky Franklin, an inventor whose gadgets Loid sometimes turns down, is 166 cm and described as average height. The wiki lists among his inventions a machine to make himself taller, which failed.

Loid is the tallest adult in the site's list by 8 cm.

Eden Academy's first-years

Anya's classmates are recorded in the Fanbook too. Damian Desmond, whose age the wiki gives as 6, is 110 cm, and the Fanbook lists his shoe size as 17 cm. Becky Blackbell, also 6, is 104 cm, with a 15 cm shoe size.

Damian's 10.5 cm advantage over Anya makes the teasing about her height easy to picture. Becky is closer to her size but still 4.5 cm taller.

Reading the Fanbook figures

A few points help when using these numbers:

1. They are round numbers. Apart from Anya's 99.5 cm, every figure is a whole centimeter, and Bond's is explicitly approximate ("about 1 m"). Treat small differences, such as Fiona's 1 cm lead over Sylvia, as exact canon but not as precise measurement.
2. One source for most of the cast. Because nearly all heights come from the same book, they were presumably set against each other, which makes comparisons within the cast reliable.
3. Anya's figure is from the story. Her height is taken from chapter 7, not from the Fanbook, so it reflects her size at that early point in the manga.
4. Weights are rare. Loid's 70–90 kg range is the only weight in the site's list. The Fanbook does add small details elsewhere, such as Damian's and Becky's shoe sizes.

How the children compare with real growth charts

To get a sense of how small Anya is, it helps to compare her with a real growth reference. The 2000 CDC Growth Charts, published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, give the median stature of children by age and sex. The site uses the same CDC tables in its height percentile calculator.

By those tables, Anya at 99.5 cm would be around the 3rd percentile for a 5-year-old American girl and far below the median for a 6-year-old. Becky, at 104 cm, would be around the 1st percentile for a 6-year-old girl. Damian is the closest to typical: just above the median for a 5-year-old boy and around the 13th percentile at 6.

This is only an illustration. The story takes place in the fictional nations of Westalis and Ostania, not the United States, and growth references describe real populations, not manga characters. Real children vary widely, and a single height says little on its own; questions about an actual child's growth are for a pediatrician.

Comparing the adults with real people

The adult heights are realistic. Wikipedia notes that third-party sources have linked Westalis and Ostania to West and East Germany, though Endo has never confirmed it. Loid's 187 cm is well above the averages for men on the site's country pages, and Yor, Fiona and Sylvia, at 170 to 173 cm, are tall women by the same measure. The NCD Risk Factor Collaboration's estimates, which the site uses for its average height by country pages, give German adults born in 1996 a mean of 179.9 cm for men and 165.9 cm for women. Among all countries in the site's data, the tallest male average is 182.5 cm and the tallest female average 169.8 cm.

So Loid is taller than the average man of any country in the dataset, and all three leading women are taller than the average woman of any country. Yuri is almost exactly average for a German man, and Franky is short by that standard.
