How tall is Loid Forger?

Loid Forger, the psychiatrist identity of the Westalian master spy codenamed Twilight, is 187 cm (6′2″) tall. The figure appears in two official places. The first is the "Twilight's Profile" page in the back of Volume 1 of Tatsuya Endo's Spy x Family manga. The second is page 31 of the Spy x Family Official Fanbook: Eyes Only, published in Japan in May 2022 and in English by Viz Media in October 2023. The two sources agree, which isn't always the case for anime and manga characters. The Spy x Family Wiki cites both, and this site uses 187 cm.

That makes Loid the tallest member of the Forger household and one of the tallest characters in the main cast. He is 17 cm taller than his wife Yor and almost twice as tall as his daughter Anya.

A weight range for a man of many faces

The most unusual line in Loid's profile is his weight. Instead of a single number, Volume 1 gives 70 to 90 kg. The book doesn't explain the range, and we won't invent a reason. It does fit the character. Twilight is defined by disguise. The Fanbook says disguise is his main talent, that his most ambitious cover was a sumo wrestler in the Far East, and that he won't take on a disguise he doesn't think he can pull off convincingly.

At 187 cm, a 20 kg range spans a lot of body types. At the low end, 70 kg is a lean, runner's build, and at the high end, 90 kg is a broad, muscular frame. Height is much harder to fake than weight. A spy can pad a suit or lose weight, but not take 20 cm off his height. That's one reason the profile can give an exact height but only a range for weight. For a 187 cm agent, being noticeably tall is a fixed fact he has to work around in every assignment.

Within the story, the height that makes Loid conspicuous also suits his cover. A tall, handsome, well-dressed hospital psychiatrist in Berlint fits in among the professional class he needs to mix with, and the wiki notes that his looks regularly attract attention from women. Endo says he always meant Loid's cover job to be a high-paying profession, a doctor or lawyer, and chose psychiatry because of Loid's affinity for psychology.

Loid versus Yor, Anya and the rest of the cast

A few relationships stand out.

• Loid and Yor. At 17 cm, the gap is a little wider than average for a couple, but not unusually so. In flats, Yor's eyes reach about Loid's chin. In heels, the gap narrows. Their Fanbook combat ratings reverse the size order. Yor is the benchmark 10, and Loid is around 6 or 7.
• Loid and Anya. Loid is 1.88 times Anya's height. She comes up to about his belt, which is why so many scenes show him carrying her or crouching to talk to her.
• Loid and Yuri. Yuri, Yor's younger brother and an officer in Ostania's secret police, is 8 cm shorter. The two spend their scenes eyeing each other with suspicion, each unaware of the other's real job, and Loid looks down at him in both senses.
• Loid and Franky. His informant and friend Franky is 21 cm shorter, the biggest adult gap in the cast.
• Loid and his superior, Sylvia. Sylvia Sherwood, the WISE handler who gives Twilight his orders, is 14 cm shorter, another case of authority not tracking height.

Looking down: Loid's eye line with each family member

Height gaps are easier to picture as eye lines. Eyes sit roughly 11 to 12 cm below the top of the head in adults, a little less in small children. Assuming everyone is barefoot, here is roughly where each member of the household lands when standing face to face with Loid:

These are geometric approximations, not canon, but they match how the family is usually drawn. Anya's eyes are about at Loid's hip, so any real conversation means he has to crouch or pick her up. When Yor wears heels, her eyes move up toward his mouth. Yuri comes closest to meeting him eye to eye, but Loid still has the advantage.

The household's combined height also makes a neat number. Loid, Yor and Anya together add up to 456.5 cm. That's an adult father who is 6′2″, a mother who is 5′7″ and a daughter who is just under a meter tall. On the manga's first three covers the family appears one at a time, each seated in a famous designer chair, according to the wiki: Loid in a Le Corbusier LC2 armchair on Volume 1, Anya on a Marshmallow sofa on Volume 2 and Yor in the Eameses' La Chaise on Volume 3. Seated, the height differences mostly disappear, a small visual joke for a family whose members are all pretending.

What 187 cm means in the real world

At 187 cm, Loid is tall by any national standard. In the CDC's National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for 2021–2023, the 95th percentile for US men aged 20 and over is 187.2 cm. Loid is essentially on that line, taller than about 95% of American men. The height percentile calculator gives the exact figure for each age group.

Westalis and Ostania, the series' rival nations, are widely seen as modeled on West and East Germany, though Wikipedia notes that Endo hasn't confirmed this. The NCD-RisC estimates on this site put the average German man born in 1996 at 179.9 cm (see average height in Germany), so Loid is about 7 cm above that. The average Japanese man of the same cohort, the reference for most of the manga's readers, is 170.8 cm, and Loid stands 16 cm taller. In a Japanese crowd he would be one of the tallest people in sight.

Among real people in the site's data, Barack Obama is listed at 187 cm (see his height page), the same as Loid. On the 6′2″ conversion page, which is 188 cm, you'll find more people just a centimeter taller. In feet and inches, 187 cm is 6 feet 1.6 inches, so it usually rounds to 6′2″.

Loid among tall heroes in fiction

187 cm is a familiar height for leading men in comics and manga, especially suave, competent ones. Several characters in this site's data are within a few centimeters:

Batman is the most fitting comparison, a tall, private man who leads a double life and relies on preparation as much as fighting. Kento Nanami of Jujutsu Kaisen, a weary professional in a suit, is 3 cm shorter. Loid's height puts him firmly in the tradition of the tall, composed spy, and his perpetual exhaustion and comic panic about Operation Strix keep him from seeming too polished.

Design notes: Mirage, Oscar and a fixed height

Endo's development notes, reproduced in the Fanbook and summarized on the wiki, show how much of Twilight changed before publication. His codename was originally going to be "Mirage," to reflect the mystery of his real face, and "Twilight" began as a placeholder that stuck. His civilian persona was going to be named Oscar, with a backstory as a magician who made children smile during the war.

Across those drafts, the character's basic look of tall, blond and handsome stayed consistent. By the time the Volume 1 profile was printed, his height was fixed at 187 cm, and later material hasn't changed it. In a series where almost everything about the protagonist is a fabrication, his height is one of the few numbers you can trust.

The Fanbook profile: other facts

The Fanbook rounds out Loid's profile with details that say a lot about his life, if nothing about his height:

• He sleeps only about two hours a night, between hospital shifts and spy work.
• His hospital salary is about ¥20 million a year.
• Anya's Eden Academy interview stressed him more than disarming a nuclear bomb.
• He has no hobbies, likes reliable intelligence and good suits, and dislikes war and irrational behavior.
• He has failed a few missions, which is reassuring for a man who seems to do everything well.

Loid on screen

The anime by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, which began in April 2022 and has continued through a third season in late 2025, keeps Loid's proportions consistent with the manga and Fanbook. He is clearly the tallest of the Forgers in every family shot. Spy x Family Code: White, released in Japan in December 2023 with character designs supervised by Endo, follows suit. Because the height appears in the first volume of the manga, it has been the established figure from the start, and you'll rarely see a competing number for Loid online.
