Real people the same height as Endeavor
Endeavor's official height: 195 cm from the Volume 5 profile
Endeavor, the Flame Hero whose real name is Enji Todoroki, is listed at 195 cm (6′5″). The number comes from the bonus character profile, or omake, printed in the fifth volume of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia, the volume that brought the U.A. Sports Festival and the Todoroki family's history to the front of the story. It is the only height ever published for him, and it applies across the manga and the Studio Bones anime.
The same Volume 5 profile gives his birthday as August 8 and his age as 45 at his first appearance. The My Hero Academia Wiki adds a weight of 118 kg (about 260 lb), blood type AB from an official data book, and a birthplace near Shizuoka Prefecture.
| Stat | Official value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 195 cm (6′5″) | Volume 5 omake |
| Weight | 118 kg (260 lb) | Listed on the My Hero Academia Wiki |
| Birthday | August 8 | Volume 5 omake |
| Age | 45 at first appearance; 46 pre-timeskip; 54 in the epilogue | Volume 5 omake; manga |
| Blood type | AB | Official data book |
| Quirk | Hellflame | — |
At 195 cm and 118 kg, his body mass index is about 31. As with most fighters, that number reflects muscle rather than fat; the wiki describes him as tall, sturdily built and very muscular.
A tall man from childhood
Endeavor's height is not something he grew into late. A flashback in Chapter 356 shows a young Enji who, according to the wiki, was already about as tall as the adults around him and closely resembled his second son, Natsuo, except for his red hair. After entering U.A. High School, he developed the broad, heavy frame he is known for.
That early size matters to his story. Endeavor's defining trait is an obsession with surpassing All Might, and he had every physical advantage a would-be No. 1 hero could want: height, strength and a powerful fire Quirk. The tragedy of the character, as Wikipedia's summary of the series puts it, is that his repeated failures to close the gap with the Symbol of Peace drove him to despair and to the abusive "Quirk marriage" and training regime that damaged his family.
Endeavor versus All Might: the 25 cm gap he never closed
At 195 cm, Endeavor is one of the tallest heroes in the series. But his rival is taller still. All Might's Volume 1 profile lists him at 220 cm, so Endeavor stands 25 cm, or nearly 10 inches, below the man he spent his life chasing.
| Measure | Endeavor | All Might | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 195 cm | 220 cm | All Might +25 cm |
| Weight | 118 kg | 255 kg (muscle form) | All Might +137 kg |
| Hero ranking | No. 2 for years, then No. 1 | No. 1 until retirement | — |
| Plush doll price (Volume 21) | 500 yen | 3,000 yen | — |
The last row is a detail from the manga that sums up the rivalry in miniature. According to the wiki, All Might plush dolls sold for 3,000 yen and were bought up by collectors, while unsold Endeavor plushes piled up and were discounted to 500 yen. Endeavor was big, powerful and successful, yet always one step behind in both stature and popularity.
The wiki also notes that Endeavor refused to believe the real All Might could be the sick, skeletal man revealed after the Kamino battle. For a hero who measured himself against All Might's size and power, seeing that the giant had a frail true form was hard to accept.
The Todoroki family by height
Endeavor's family is central to his story, and several of its members have published heights. The table uses figures from the volume omake profiles and this site's character data.
| Family member | Height | Difference vs Endeavor | Relationship |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enji Todoroki (Endeavor) | 195 cm (6′5″) | — | Father |
| Natsuo Todoroki | 181 cm (5′11″) | −14 cm | Middle son |
| Toya Todoroki (Dabi) | 176 cm (5′9″) | −19 cm | Eldest son |
| Shoto Todoroki | 176 cm (5′9″) | −19 cm | Youngest son |
| Fuyumi Todoroki | 160 cm (5′3″) | −35 cm | Daughter |
| Rei Todoroki | Not published | — | Wife |
None of Endeavor's children approaches his height. Natsuo, whom the wiki says Enji resembled as a child, comes closest at 181 cm, still 14 cm shorter. Shoto, the son Endeavor trained to surpass All Might, and Toya, the eldest son who became the villain Dabi, are both listed at 176 cm, 19 cm below their father. Rei Todoroki has no published number; the wiki describes her only as a woman of average height and build.
The size difference between Endeavor and Shoto is visible throughout their scenes, from Endeavor towering over his son at the Sports Festival to their uneasy work-study together. At 19 cm, it is roughly the length of a hand from wrist to fingertip.
Endeavor among Japan's top heroes
Outside his family, Endeavor's closest professional relationship in the later arcs is with Hawks, the No. 2 hero, whose Volume 20 profile lists him at 172 cm. The two make a noticeably mismatched pair: a 195 cm flame-wreathed brawler and a much smaller winged hero 23 cm shorter.
| Character | Height | Difference vs Endeavor |
|---|---|---|
| All For One | 225 cm (7′5″) | +30 cm |
| All Might | 220 cm (7′3″) | +25 cm |
| Mirai Sasaki (Sir Nighteye) | 200 cm (6′7″) | +5 cm |
| Endeavor | 195 cm (6′5″) | — |
| Shota Aizawa | 183 cm (6′0″) | −12 cm |
| Hawks | 172 cm (5′8″) | −23 cm |
| Katsuki Bakugo | 172 cm (5′8″) | −23 cm |
| Izuku Midoriya | 166 cm (5′5″) | −29 cm |
Katsuki Bakugo makes an interesting comparison. The wiki lists a long series of parallels between the two: ignition-type Quirks, the goal of becoming No. 1, a rivalry with a One For All user, hot tempers and eventual remorse. Physically, though, Bakugo at 172 cm is 23 cm shorter, the same gap as between Endeavor and Hawks.
How Endeavor's size fits his design
Endeavor's look is built to intimidate. His Volume 5 profile notes that he keeps his Quirk burning around his face even outside work, to project power. His beard and mustache appear to be made of flame, his boots seem to be permanently on fire, and his costume, called the Gates of Hell in an official data book, streams fire across his shoulders. Fire adds visual height and width; flames rising from his shoulders and face make a 195 cm man read as even larger.
It worked a little too well. The wiki records that Endeavor ranks first in an in-universe list of "Heroes That Look Like Villains," and that even as the No. 1 hero in the overall rankings he placed only fourth in popularity. The Ultra Analysis character guide describes his personality as a "pig-headed father."
Horikoshi has also talked about the character's role in the story. According to the Volume 5 notes, Endeavor was first planned as a U.A. instructor, but that idea was dropped because having the top two heroes on the students' side would make most conflicts too easy. A fan blog summarizing Horikoshi's message at Jump Festa 2024 reports that Endeavor was originally meant to die during the Paranormal Liberation War, and that Horikoshi changed course while drawing the battle with the High-End Nomu in Kyushu.
Spoiler note: in the Final War, Endeavor loses his right arm and is badly burned. In the epilogue the wiki says he relies on a wheelchair at first and, eight years after the war, walks with a cane. Those injuries change how he is drawn but not his listed height.
Endeavor across the series: ages and appearances
Endeavor's 195 cm stays constant, but his appearance changes more than almost any other adult in the cast, which can confuse comparisons.
| Stage | Age | What changes on the page |
|---|---|---|
| First appearance and Sports Festival | 45 | Full flame beard and mustache, original costume |
| After becoming No. 1 hero | 45–46 | Upgraded costume with armored bracers and shoulder pads |
| After the fight with Hood | 46 | Large jagged scar from hairline to chin, half an eyebrow burned off |
| Final War | 46 | Loses his right arm; severe burns |
| Epilogue, eight years later | 54 | No facial hair, heavy scarring, walks with a cane |
The early-arc Endeavor is the one most people picture, and his flames make him look bigger than his frame. The epilogue version has no fire on his face at all, and because he walks with a cane, he is often drawn slightly stooped. Neither change affects the official figure.
Reading Endeavor's numbers carefully
A few points help keep comparisons honest:
- Measure to the scalp, not the flames. In costume, fire rises from his face and shoulders. Fan charts that measure to the top of the flames can add 10 cm or more that are not part of his body.
- His boots are part of the costume. The wiki says his boots appear to be made of fire or constantly alight, so their real sole thickness is unclear. Profile heights are treated as barefoot values.
- The weight comes from the wiki, not the omake. The 195 cm height and August 8 birthday are cited to the Volume 5 profile; the 118 kg weight is listed in the wiki's infobox without that citation, so treat it as less firmly sourced.
What 195 cm means in real-world terms
Converted, 195 cm is 76.8 inches, just under 6′5″. The NCD Risk Factor Collaboration, whose national estimates this site uses, puts Japanese men born in 1996 at an average of about 170.8 cm, so Endeavor is roughly 24 cm taller than the typical Japanese man. That is the kind of height that stands out in any crowd in Japan; the average height in Japan page shows how rare it is.
| Comparison | Height | Difference vs Endeavor |
|---|---|---|
| Average Japanese man (NCD-RisC, 1996 cohort) | 170.8 cm | +24.2 cm |
| Average US man (NCD-RisC, 1996 cohort) | 177.1 cm | +17.9 cm |
| Dwayne Johnson | 195.6 cm | −0.6 cm |
| Jason Momoa | 195.6 cm | −0.6 cm |
Two well-known actors land almost exactly on Endeavor's mark: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa are both listed at 195.6 cm on this site. Either would look level with Endeavor in a side-by-side comparison, and both have the kind of heavy, muscular build the character is drawn with.
