Real people the same height as Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman's official height: 6 feet
DC's reference books list Wonder Woman, Princess Diana of Themyscira, at 182.9 cm (6′0″) and 165 lb (75 kg). The figures come from the DC Comics Encyclopedia (2008 edition) and are recorded on the DC Database entry for the post-Crisis "New Earth" continuity that ran from the mid-1980s to 2011. They are the canonical numbers this site uses.
A six-foot height puts Diana in rare company. She is taller than the large majority of real women and many men, and she is the tallest of the main DC heroines in this site's database. That fits the character's origin as an Amazon warrior princess, raised among a race of women warriors and sent into the world as its champion.
There is a second official figure in circulation. The DC Database's entry for the current "Prime Earth" continuity lists Diana at 6′2″ (188 cm) and 175 lb (79 kg), citing the cover of Wonder Woman Vol. 1 #794. That cover is a more recent and less formal source than an encyclopedia, but it is official DC material, and it is the origin of the 6′2″ figure often quoted online.
| Continuity | Height | Weight | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Earth (1987–2011) | 182.9 cm (6′0″) | 165 lb (75 kg) | DC Comics Encyclopedia (2008) |
| Prime Earth (2011–present) | 188 cm (6′2″) | 175 lb (79 kg) | Cover of Wonder Woman Vol. 1 #794 |
The metric value is exact rather than rounded: six feet is 72 inches, and 72 × 2.54 gives 182.88 cm, stored here as 182.9 cm. The Prime Earth 6′2″ converts to 187.96 cm, or 188 cm.
This site keeps 6′0″ as the canonical value because it comes from DC's main reference work and applies to the long run of stories that defined the modern character. Where the Prime Earth figure matters, we note it.
Creating the Amazon princess
Wonder Woman first appeared in All Star Comics #8, released in October 1941 with a cover date of December 1941/January 1942. She was created by psychologist William Moulton Marston, writing under the pen name Charles Moulton, with artist H. G. Peter. Wikipedia's account of her creation notes that Marston's wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston, suggested that the new hero should be a woman, and that Elizabeth and Olive Byrne are credited as inspirations for her appearance.
In the Golden Age origin, the Amazons live on a secluded island, originally called Paradise Island, under Queen Hippolyta. Diana wins a tournament among the Amazons, is given the title of Wonder Woman and travels to "Man's World." After DC's 1985 event Crisis on Infinite Earths, writer-artist George Pérez, with Len Wein and Greg Potter, rewrote her origin. The island was renamed Themyscira, and Pérez gave Diana an athletic look that emphasized her Amazonian heritage. The 2008 encyclopedia's six-foot figure describes that post-Pérez Diana.
Her height has never been a plot point in the way Wolverine's small stature is for him, but it supports her role, and it has stayed remarkably stable across reboots: every official listing this site has found puts her between six feet and six feet two. She is a warrior trained from childhood among a nation of warriors, and a six-foot frame with a 165-pound listing describes a tall, athletic fighter rather than a slight figure relying solely on superpowers.
Diana among the Amazons, her family and her enemies
Wonder Woman's own supporting cast is one of the best ways to understand her height, because the DC Database records listings for many of the Amazons and gods around her. These figures come from DC reference works for the New Earth continuity.
| Character | Relationship to Diana | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ares | God of war, archenemy | 208 cm (6′10″) | 359 lb |
| Artemis of Bana-Mighdall | Fellow Amazon, briefly Wonder Woman | 183 cm (6′0″) | 166 lb |
| Wonder Woman (Diana) | — | 183 cm (6′0″) | 165 lb |
| Hippolyta | Mother, Queen of the Amazons | 175 cm (5′9″) | 150 lb |
| Donna Troy | Sister figure, Wonder Girl and Troia | 175 cm (5′9″) | 140 lb |
| Barbara Minerva (Cheetah) | Archenemy | 175 cm (5′9″) | 120 lb |
| Cassandra Sandsmark | Later Wonder Girl | 160 cm (5′3″) | 124 lb |
A few patterns stand out. Diana is taller than her mother: Queen Hippolyta is listed at 5′9″, 7.6 cm shorter than the daughter she sculpted from clay in the post-Pérez origin. Donna Troy, Diana's sister figure, whose origin DC has rewritten several times, shares Hippolyta's 5′9″ rather than Diana's six feet.
The one Amazon who matches Diana exactly is Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, the red-haired warrior who briefly took the title of Wonder Woman in the 1990s. Both are listed at 6′0″ in the 2008 DC Comics Encyclopedia, and their weights differ by a single pound, so the two Amazon champions are effectively the same size.
Among Diana's enemies, Cheetah is listed at 5′9″, 7.6 cm shorter, which makes their rivalry a contest of speed and ferocity rather than size. Ares, the god of war, is the one who towers over her at 6′10″ and 359 lb, a fitting scale for a divine adversary. In this cast, Diana is the tallest mortal-scale woman but not the largest figure, and her battles with gods are fought looking up.
Wonder Woman compared with the Justice League
Here is how Diana compares with other characters in this site's DC database, using the canonical figures.

| Bane | 203.2 cm (6′8″) | 20.3 cm taller |
| Cyborg | 198.1 cm (6′6″) | 15.2 cm taller |
| Joker | 195.6 cm (6′5″) | 12.7 cm taller |

| Black Canary | 162.6 cm (5′4″) | 20.3 cm shorter |
Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman
DC's "Trinity" of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman is the publisher's most famous trio. Superman is listed at 6′3″, 7.6 cm taller than Diana, and Batman at 6′2″, about 5 cm taller. With the Prime Earth figure of 6′2″, Diana would match Batman exactly and stand just an inch below Superman. In either continuity, the three are close in height, which suits a trio usually presented as equals.
Wonder Woman and the Justice League
Diana is taller than the Flash and Green Arrow and just an inch shorter than Aquaman. Cyborg, the heavily augmented Victor Stone, is the tallest regular League member in our data at 6′6″. Among the League's enemies, the Joker is 6′5″, Bane 6′8″, and Darkseid, the tyrant of Apokolips, a towering 8′9″.
Wonder Woman among DC's heroines
Among the main DC heroines in this site's data, Diana is the tallest by a clear margin. Harley Quinn and Catwoman are each listed at 5′7″, 12.7 cm shorter. Supergirl is 5′5″, and Black Canary 5′4″, more than 20 cm below the Amazon. In group scenes with other heroines, Diana typically stands a head above the rest, and artists often use that height to mark her as the senior figure.
Wonder Woman compared with Marvel's heroines
Cross-publisher comparisons come up often in fan discussions. At 6′0″, Wonder Woman is taller than Marvel's Captain Marvel and Storm, each listed at 5′11″ (180.3 cm), and well above Black Widow and Scarlet Witch at 5′7″ (170.2 cm). Among the best-known superheroines of the two major publishers, Diana is the tallest in this site's data.
Lynda Carter, Gal Gadot and the screen Diana
Two actresses have defined Wonder Woman on screen. Lynda Carter starred in the Wonder Woman television series from 1975 to 1979, and her portrayal shaped the character's popular image for decades. Gal Gadot took on the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), then starred in Wonder Woman (2017), Justice League (2017), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021), with cameos in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash in 2023.
Gadot is listed at 178 cm (5′10″) on this site, about 5 cm shorter than the comic-book Diana's 182.9 cm. That is a relatively small gap by the standards of superhero casting; compare it with Hugh Jackman, who is a full foot taller than the comic-book Wolverine. On screen, Gadot's height and athletic build make her a convincing Amazon.
What 6 feet means for a woman in the real world
Six feet is genuinely tall for a woman. The CDC's 2021–2023 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey puts the median height of American women aged 20 and over at 161.2 cm and the 95th percentile at 172.5 cm. Wonder Woman's 182.9 cm is more than 10 cm above that 95th percentile, a height reached by only a very small share of American women. The Prime Earth figure of 188 cm would be rarer still. Among American men, whose median is 175.2 cm and whose 85th percentile is 183.0 cm, Diana would be taller than roughly 85 percent.
Because Themyscira draws on Greek myth, Greece makes a natural real-world benchmark. NCD-RisC estimates that women born in 1996 in Greece average 164.9 cm, so Diana stands about 18 cm above the typical Greek woman of a recent generation. Even in the tallest nations for women in this site's data, such as Latvia and the Netherlands, average heights are below 170 cm. You can explore those figures on the Greece average height page.
Real-world comparisons help too. Singer Taylor Swift is listed at 180 cm on this site, about 3 cm shorter than Diana, while tennis champion Venus Williams, listed at 185 cm, is about 2 cm taller. Wonder Woman's height, in other words, is that of an elite female athlete. The height comparison tool can place her beside Superman, Batman, Gal Gadot or yourself at true scale.
Why sites disagree on Wonder Woman's height
Most of the disagreement comes from the existence of two official figures: 6′0″ in the 2008 DC Comics Encyclopedia and 6′2″ on a later Wonder Woman cover from the Prime Earth era. Other numbers circulating online often come from Gal Gadot's or Lynda Carter's heights, or from fan estimates based on art, which varies widely between artists.
This site uses the encyclopedia's 6′0″ because it is DC's main reference work for the character's modern era and allows consistent comparison with the other DC characters whose heights come from the same encyclopedia, including the Joker, whose 6′5″ listing also comes from the 2008 edition. If you prefer the Prime Earth figure, add 5 cm to every comparison on this page.
