Who is on the shortest celebrities list
This list runs in the opposite direction from the site's other rankings. It starts with the shortest well-known adult and works upward through 30 actors, musicians, comedians and media personalities. Heights come from each person's statement on Wikidata, the open database behind Wikipedia's infoboxes, and like all celebrity heights they range from a Guinness World Records measurement at one extreme to unreferenced figures copied from profile sites at the other. Where a better source disagrees with the Wikidata number, this page says so.
The list has two distinct groups. The first five entries are people of short stature, four of whom have a named condition that limited their growth. Everyone else is simply petite. From about 147 cm upward, the list fills with actresses and singers who are a few inches shorter than average, ending in a ten-way tie at 155 cm (5′1″).

Dwarfism, short stature and respectful language
Little People of America (LPA) defines dwarfism as a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4 ft 10 in (147 cm) or shorter, though some people with a dwarfing condition are slightly taller. LPA says there are about 400 diagnosed types. Achondroplasia accounts for perhaps 70% of cases, and some people never receive a definitive diagnosis. The average adult with dwarfism is about 4 ft 0 in, with typical heights from 2 ft 8 in to 4 ft 8 in.
LPA's guidance on language is direct. Terms such as dwarf, little person, LP and person of short stature are all acceptable, but most people would rather be called by their name. The organization describes the word midget as offensive to most people of short stature, because it dates from the 19th-century freak-show era when short people were put on display for public amusement. This page follows that guidance and describes each person's condition only where they or a reputable source have made it public.
The five shortest: careers built against expectations
Jyoti Amge: 62.8 cm
Guinness World Records recognizes Jyoti Amge, born December 16, 1993, as the shortest woman living (mobile). She was measured at the Wockhardt Superspeciality Hospital in Nagpur on her 18th birthday, which made her eligible to take the adult record from Bridgette Jordan. She had already held the record for the shortest living female teenager. Wikipedia attributes her height to primordial dwarfism. She has worked as a model and actress, appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss 6, and played Ma Petite in American Horror Story: Freak Show in 2014. In November 2024 she met Rumeysa Gelgi, the tallest living woman, for the first time at the Savoy Hotel in London, putting the shortest and tallest living women in the same room.
Verne Troyer: 81 cm
Verne Troyer (1969–2018) had cartilage–hair hypoplasia and was 2 ft 8 in (81 cm) tall. He became famous as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers films. Wikipedia reports that Mike Myers was so impressed by his performance that he rewrote The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) to give the character more screen time. Troyer also played the goblin Griphook in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001).
Warwick Davis: 106 cm
Warwick Davis was born with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare bone growth disorder. Wikipedia gives his height as 3 ft 6 in (107 cm), a centimeter more than the Wikidata figure used here. His career began at age 11, when his grandmother heard a radio item asking for people 4 ft or shorter to appear in Return of the Jedi. He was cast as an extra Ewok and took over the role of Wicket when the actor originally chosen fell ill. Willow (1988) was written with him in mind, and he later played Professor Flitwick and Griphook in the Harry Potter films. In 1995 he co-founded Willow Management, an agency for actors under 5 ft, and he is a co-founder of the charity Little People UK.
Peter Dinklage: 135 cm
Peter Dinklage has achondroplasia, and Wikipedia notes he is the only member of his family with the condition. He won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series a record four times for playing Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones. He has said that roles written for actors his size tend to be "a little flat", usually comic or wise-mentor parts, and that what drew him to an early lead role was a character with romantic feelings and anger rather than a stereotype. His 135 cm Wikidata figure cites a Hungarian entertainment report rather than an official biography.
Linda Hunt: 145 cm
Linda Hunt was diagnosed with hypopituitary dwarfism as a teenager and stands 4 ft 9 in (145 cm). Her performance as the male photographer Billy Kwan in The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first person to win an Oscar for playing a character of the opposite sex. CBS News, profiling her at 67, described how a childhood trip to see Peter Pan on Broadway showed her that the stage was a place where she could feel taller.
Petite stars between 147 and 152 cm
Just above the LPA threshold sits a group of famous performers who are simply short.
Édith Piaf (1915–1963) is listed on Wikidata at 147 cm, but Wikipedia's biography gives 142 cm (4 ft 8 in). Either way, her height shaped her stage name. According to Wikipedia, her nervousness and small size led the nightclub owner Louis Leplée to nickname her La Môme Piaf, Paris slang for "the sparrow kid".
Danny DeVito is the clearest case of a disputed figure. His Wikidata statement of 147 cm has no reference, while Wikipedia's article gives 5 ft 0 in (1.52 m). Wikipedia describes him as known for his short stature, raspy voice and energetic comedy roles, starting with Louie De Palma in Taxi, which won him a Golden Globe and an Emmy. If the Wikipedia figure is right, he belongs in the 152 cm group rather than tied for sixth.
Kristin Chenoweth, at 149.9 cm, matches Wikipedia's 4 ft 11 in (150 cm). She was nominated for a Tony for creating the role of Glinda in Wicked, won an Emmy for Pushing Daisies, and called her 2009 memoir A Little Bit Wicked.
The rest of this band, including Gloria Swanson, Judy Garland and Rani Mukerji, has Wikidata heights without detailed public discussion, so the list reports their figures and leaves it there.
How well are these heights documented?
Checking the top of the list against independent sources shows a wide range in quality. Only one figure comes from a formal, witnessed measurement: Guinness measured Jyoti Amge in a hospital on a set date. The others rely on biographies, interviews and press reports.
| Name | Height on this list (Wikidata) | Other published figure | Source of the other figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jyoti Amge | 62.8 cm | 62.8 cm | Guinness World Records measurement, 2011 |
| Verne Troyer | 81 cm | 81 cm (2 ft 8 in) | Wikipedia biography |
| Warwick Davis | 106 cm | 107 cm (3 ft 6 in) | Wikipedia biography |
| Linda Hunt | 145 cm | 145 cm (4 ft 9 in) | Wikipedia; CBS News profile |
| Édith Piaf | 147 cm | 142 cm (4 ft 8 in) | Wikipedia biography |
| Danny DeVito | 147 cm | 152 cm (5 ft 0 in) | Wikipedia biography |
| Kristin Chenoweth | 149.9 cm | 150 cm (4 ft 11 in) | Wikipedia biography |
For five of the seven, the sources agree to within a centimeter. The two exceptions, Piaf and DeVito, disagree by 5 cm in opposite directions, which is enough to move each of them several places. The Wikidata statements behind those figures also differ in quality: DeVito's has no reference at all, while Piaf's cites a German magazine photo feature and an older revision of French Wikipedia. When you see a celebrity height quoted to the centimeter, it is worth asking where the number came from.
The 152–155 cm cluster
Fifteen of the 30 entries fall between 152 and 155 cm (5′0″ to 5′1″). These are ordinary heights for women: the CDC's 2021–2023 NHANES survey puts the average US woman at 161.2 cm, so a woman of 155 cm is about 6 cm, or a little over 2 inches, below average. The height percentile calculator shows where any of these heights falls among American adults.
The cluster includes several stars with pages on this site. Jenna Ortega and Lady Gaga both appear at 155 cm, alongside Carrie Fisher, Maisie Williams and Vanessa Hudgens. Sabrina Carpenter and Kylie Minogue share 152 cm with Paula Abdul and Mary-Kate Olsen. Elliot Page, at 155 cm, is the only man on the list outside the top seven.
Many of these figures are rounded to whole inches or to 5 ft 0 in and 5 ft 1 in, which is why so many people share exactly the same value. A centimeter of rounding is enough to move someone several places up or down a list this tightly packed, so treat the order within the cluster as approximate.
Why some well-known short stars are missing
The list ranks only people in this site's database with a Wikidata height of 155 cm or less. Some famous people who are often described as short sit just above that cutoff. Kevin Hart, for example, is listed at 158 cm on this site. Whether a listed height includes shoes is one of the most common reasons celebrity figures disagree.
Comparing short celebrities with everyone else
The full range of this list is wider than it looks in the table. Jyoti Amge's 62.8 cm is about 40% of Lady Gaga's 155 cm, and Gaga in turn is 74 cm shorter than Yao Ming, listed on this site at 229 cm. To see these differences properly, load any two people into the 3D height comparison tool and add your own height for scale. The tallest lists hub collects this ranking alongside the site's lists of the tallest actors, athletes and presidents.
