LE SSERAFIM member heights
LE SSERAFIM is a five-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music, a sub-label of Hybe. Wikipedia lists the current members as Sakura Miyawaki, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae. Four of the five have a sourced height in this site's data: Huh Yunjin at 172 cm (5′7½″), Hong Eunchae at 170 cm (5′7″), Kim Chaewon at 164 cm (5′4½″) and Sakura at 163 cm (5′4″). Their average is about 167.3 cm (5′6″).
| Member | Born | Height on this site | Kprofiles (current) | Source of the site figure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Huh Yunjin | 2001 | 172 cm (5′7½″) | 172.3 cm | Kprofiles, April 2022 |
| Kazuha | 2003 | not in site data | 169.9 cm | — |
| Hong Eunchae | 2006 | 170 cm (5′7″) | 169 cm | Kprofiles, April 2022 |
| Kim Chaewon | 2000 | 164 cm (5′4½″) | 164 cm | IZ*ONE official profile, 2018 |
| Sakura Miyawaki | 1998 | 163 cm (5′4″) | 163 cm | IZ*ONE official profile |
Including Kazuha at the Kprofiles figure of 169.9 cm would raise the five-member average to about 167.8 cm. The group is split into two clear height bands: three members near 170 cm and two near 163–164 cm, a gap of about 8–9 cm between Yunjin and Sakura.
Where the numbers come from
LE SSERAFIM's heights have an unusually traceable history, because two of the members came from a project group with an official profile site.
IZ*ONE's official profiles. The heights this site uses for Kim Chaewon (164 cm) and Sakura (163 cm) come from Wikidata statements that cite profile pages on IZONE's official website. That makes them the closest thing in this group to an agency-published figure, although they date from the IZONE era. Kprofiles notes that Chaewon updated her height to 164 cm during a Weverse Live broadcast on August 1, 2023, consistent with the older listing.
Kprofiles, as of 2022. The figures for Huh Yunjin (172 cm) and Hong Eunchae (170 cm) come from Wikidata statements that cite the fan-run Kprofiles site and record that it was consulted on April 9, 2022, a few weeks before the group's debut. Kprofiles has since refined both: it now lists Yunjin at 172.3 cm and says Eunchae updated her height to 169 cm on February 15, 2024.
No figure yet. Kazuha's Wikidata entry has no height statement, so she does not yet appear in this site's chart. Kprofiles lists her at 169.9 cm.
The differences are small, a centimeter or less in every case, but they show why the dates of sources matter for idols who debuted as teenagers.
Huh Yunjin: the tallest member
Huh Yunjin, born in 2001, is the tallest member on this site at 172 cm, or 172.3 cm on the current Kprofiles page. Kprofiles describes her nationality as Korean-American. Wikipedia records that she competed on Produce 48 in 2018, representing Pledis Entertainment, and finished 26th, eliminated in episode 11, before joining LE SSERAFIM.
Against the average American woman born in 1996, who stands 163.5 cm in the NCD-RisC data on our United States average height page, Yunjin is about 8.5 cm taller. Among the members of the girl groups featured on this site, only IVE's Wonyoung and Yujin, at 173 cm, are taller.
Kazuha and Eunchae: the 169–170 cm pair
Kazuha, born in 2003, came to K-pop from classical ballet. Wikipedia says she trained as a professional ballerina, attended the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow and the Royal Ballet School in the United Kingdom, and was studying at the Dutch National Ballet Academy in the Netherlands when Big Hit Music founder Bang Si-hyuk personally scouted her. At Kprofiles' 169.9 cm she would be about 11.6 cm taller than the average Japanese woman born in 1996, who measures 158.3 cm in the NCD-RisC data on our Japan average height page.
Hong Eunchae, born in November 2006, is the youngest member; she was 15 when the group debuted in May 2022. Wikipedia notes that she studied for two years at Def Dance School and auditioned for JYP Entertainment and Pledis before joining Source Music in 2021. Her listing illustrates how a teenage idol's height can shift between sources: 170 cm in the April 2022 profile cited by Wikidata, and 169 cm in her own February 2024 update reported by Kprofiles.
The IZ*ONE alumni: Chaewon and Sakura
Sakura Miyawaki, born in 1998, is the eldest member and has the longest career. Wikipedia records that she made her acting debut in 2011, joined the Japanese idol group HKT48 that year as a first-generation trainee, became a full member of Team H in 2012 and moved to Team KIV in 2014, before graduating from HKT48 on June 27, 2021, after ten years. On Produce 48 she finished second, earning a place in IZ*ONE. At 163 cm she is about 4.7 cm above the average Japanese woman of the 1996 cohort.
Kim Chaewon, born in 2000, is the group's leader, according to Wikipedia. She represented Woollim Entertainment on Produce 48 and finished tenth, also joining IZ*ONE. At 164 cm she is the second-shortest member listed.
Source Music announced the new group on March 14, 2022, with Sakura and Chaewon named as its first members, according to Wikipedia. Two other IZ*ONE alumni, Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin, are now in IVE, where both are listed at 173 cm, about 9–10 cm taller than their former groupmates.
A multinational group compared with home averages
LE SSERAFIM's members come from three countries, so a single "national average" comparison does not fit. Using this site's NCD-RisC data for women born in 1996:
| Member | Height | Home-country reference | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Huh Yunjin | 172 cm | United States, 163.5 cm | +8.5 cm |
| Kazuha | 169.9 cm (Kprofiles) | Japan, 158.3 cm | +11.6 cm |
| Hong Eunchae | 170 cm | South Korea, 162.3 cm | +7.7 cm |
| Kim Chaewon | 164 cm | South Korea, 162.3 cm | +1.7 cm |
| Sakura Miyawaki | 163 cm | Japan, 158.3 cm | +4.7 cm |
Every member is above the average for women of her own nationality. The South Korean figure is shown in full on our South Korea average height page.
That national figure reflects a dramatic history. The NCD-RisC study found that South Korean women gained about 20 cm in average height over the 20th century, the largest increase of any population, rising from among the shortest women in the world to the top third. The Korea Herald, reporting government measurements, said Korean women aged 20 to 69 averaged 159.6 cm in 2022, and that female high school students averaged 161.7 cm in 2023, up from 159.8 cm a decade earlier.
Japan, Korea and the century of growth
Two of LE SSERAFIM's five members, Sakura and Kazuha, are Japanese, which makes the group a neat illustration of one of the more surprising findings in the NCD-RisC study. A century ago Japanese and Korean women were both among the shortest in the world. Over the 20th century South Korean women gained about 20 cm, and the study reports that South Korean men and women are now taller than their Japanese counterparts. In this site's data for women born in 1996, the gap is about 4 cm: 162.3 cm in South Korea against 158.3 cm in Japan.
The Korean figures have deep roots. A Seoul National University study reported by The Korea Herald estimated the height of Joseon-era Korean women, from the 15th to the 19th centuries, at 148.9 cm, using thighbones from the remains of 116 adults. Huh Yunjin, at 172 cm, is more than 23 cm taller than that estimate, and even Sakura, the shortest member listed, is about 14 cm taller.
Two height bands in one group
Looking at the five members together, LE SSERAFIM divides neatly into a trio and a pair:
- The taller trio: Huh Yunjin (172 cm), Kazuha (169.9 cm on Kprofiles) and Hong Eunchae (170 cm on this site, 169 cm in her 2024 update). All three are within about 3 cm of each other.
- The IZ*ONE pair: Kim Chaewon (164 cm) and Sakura (163 cm), separated by a single centimeter, both with heights originally published on IZ*ONE's official profiles.
The gap between the two bands is roughly 6 cm, from Chaewon to Eunchae. Interestingly, the taller trio are the three members who had not debuted with an idol group before LE SSERAFIM: Yunjin had been eliminated from Produce 48, Kazuha came from ballet, and Eunchae came from dance school. In feet and inches, the trio stand around 5′7″ and the pair around 5′4″; the 170 cm and 163 cm conversion pages show how each height compares with women in the United States and worldwide.
LE SSERAFIM among the featured girl groups
On this site's figures, LE SSERAFIM sits between IVE and aespa in average height.
| Group | Members listed on this site | Average | Tallest listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| IVE | 4 of 6 | 170.5 cm | Wonyoung, Yujin (173 cm) |
| LE SSERAFIM | 4 of 5 | 167.3 cm | Huh Yunjin (172 cm) |
| aespa | 4 of 4 | 164.5 cm | Karina (167.8 cm) |
All three averages are well above the 159.6 cm that Korean women aged 20 to 69 averaged in the government's 2022 Size Korea survey, as reported by The Korea Herald. Because that survey includes women up to 69, it naturally sits lower than figures for the generation born in the 1990s and 2000s.
From Fearless to world tours
The group's name, Wikipedia explains, is an anagram of "I'm Fearless" and a reference to the six-winged seraphim. LE SSERAFIM debuted on May 2, 2022, with the EP Fearless and won their first music show eight days later. Their second EP, Antifragile, sold over a million copies and made them the fastest K-pop girl group to debut on the US Billboard 200 at the time. The group made their Japanese debut on January 25, 2023. The English single "Perfect Night" (2023), released with Blizzard Entertainment to promote Overwatch 2, topped the Circle Digital Chart for six weeks. In April 2024 they performed at Coachella with Nile Rodgers, and their first world tour, the Easy Crazy Hot Tour, grossed $34.1 million and ranked among the highest-grossing K-pop tours of 2025.
