Where Attack on Titan heights come from
Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan ran in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from September 2009 to April 2021 and filled 34 volumes. Height is central to this series, and Kodansha published several official reference books with character statistics. The Attack on Titan Wiki ties each height it records to a specific book and page, which makes the figures easy to trace. The wiki's citation template identifies the main sources:
- Attack on Titan Guidebook (the combined INSIDE and OUTSIDE books), which gives profiles for the year 850, when the 104th Training Corps cadets are about 15.
- Attack on Titan ANSWERS, the source for several Titan-form heights.
- Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia, which supplies key Titan heights such as the Colossus and Armored Titans.
- Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia FINAL, which gives post-timeskip heights for the year 854.
This site lists each character at the latest official height, so the 104th cadets appear at their adult, year-854 figures. The table below ranks the human characters, with the year-850 figure where the guidebook gives a different one.

The four-year timeskip: a growth spurt in the data
The jump from the year 850 to 854 is the most interesting part of the franchise's height data, because the official books record the 104th Training Corps growing up. In 850 the cadets are mid-teens. By 854 they are young adults, and every cadet with two published heights got taller.
Connie Springer changes most. The guidebook lists him at 158 cm, making him one of the shortest boys in the class, and the Character Encyclopedia FINAL gives 180 cm. That 22 cm gain over four years is the biggest change in the franchise's official data. Jean Kirstein adds 15 cm, from 175 cm to 190 cm, and his weight rises from 65 kg to 89 kg in the same books, which turns him into the tallest of the surviving cadets. Eren gains 13 cm, from 170 cm to 183 cm.
Others change more modestly. Mikasa grows from 170 cm to 176 cm and Armin from 163 cm to 169 cm. Reiner, already 185 cm in 850, adds just 3 cm. The result is a reshuffled class. In 850, Eren and Mikasa were the same height. By 854, Eren is 7 cm taller. The Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman pages compare the pair in more detail.
The adults who don't change
Characters who were already adults in 850 keep a single height. Erwin Smith is listed at 188 cm and Hange Zoë at 170 cm. Levi Ackerman is 160 cm and 65 kg. By the end of the story Levi is 23 cm shorter than Eren and 30 cm shorter than Jean, the gap between a short adult and a tall one. His character page puts that contrast to scale.
At the other end, Historia Reiss is listed at 145 cm and 42 kg, the shortest human character on the list, and Annie Leonhart is 153 cm, which makes the 14 m Female Titan she controls about 92 times her own height.
Weight and build in the guidebooks
The same reference books also list weights, and they add a second dimension to the timeskip. Between 850 and 854, Eren goes from 63 kg to 82 kg, Connie from 58 kg to 79 kg, Jean from 65 kg to 89 kg and Reiner from 83 kg to 95 kg. Sasha goes from 55 kg to 61 kg and Mikasa from 68 kg to 70 kg, while Armin barely changes, from 55 kg to 56 kg. Across the cast, the books turn lanky teenagers into heavier adult soldiers.
| Character | Year 850 | Year 854 |
|---|---|---|
| Eren Yeager | 170 cm, 63 kg | 183 cm, 82 kg |
| Jean Kirstein | 175 cm, 65 kg | 190 cm, 89 kg |
| Connie Springer | 158 cm, 58 kg | 180 cm, 79 kg |
| Reiner Braun | 185 cm, 83 kg | 188 cm, 95 kg |
| Mikasa Ackerman | 170 cm, 68 kg | 176 cm, 70 kg |
| Sasha Blouse | 168 cm, 55 kg | 173 cm, 61 kg |
| Armin Arlert | 163 cm, 55 kg | 169 cm, 56 kg |
A few figures stand out. Mikasa's 68 kg in 850 made her heavier than Eren, Jean and Connie at the time, even though she was no taller than Eren. Levi is listed at 65 kg, the same as the year-850 Jean, who was 15 cm taller. Reiner's 95 kg in 854 is the heaviest figure for any human character. Erwin and Zeke are both given as 92 kg, while Bertholdt is listed at only 81 kg despite being the tallest at 192 cm, which makes him the leanest of the tall men on paper. Historia and Pieck share the lightest weight, 42 kg.
Isayama's own comments, recorded in the Character Encyclopedia, fit the numbers. He said that if the 104th Training Corps held an arm-wrestling contest, Eren and Jean would be evenly matched. Their guidebook statistics put them within 5 cm and 2 kg of each other in 850, and Jean's later growth keeps the rivalry close on paper.
Titan heights: from 4 meters to 60
Titans are the reason the franchise attracts height comparisons in the first place. The story's premise, humanity sheltering behind enormous walls from giant man-eating humanoids, only works if the reader can feel the difference in scale, and the official books give that difference exact numbers. The site's list includes five of them:
| Titan | Height | Official source cited by the wiki |
|---|---|---|
| Colossal (Colossus) Titan | 60 m (197 ft) | Character Encyclopedia; anime episode 1 |
| Beast Titan (Zeke) | 17 m (56 ft) | Manga |
| Attack Titan (Eren) | 15 m (49 ft) | Manga |
| Armored Titan (Reiner) | 15 m (49 ft) | Character Encyclopedia |
| Female Titan (Annie) | 14 m (46 ft) | Manga |
The Colossal Titan is in a class of its own. The wiki's manga page cites the Character Encyclopedia for 60 m, and its anime page cites the first episode for the same figure, so the adaptations agree. The wiki's entry on Bertholdt Hoover, its first known holder, describes the form as about four times the height of any other Titan seen up to that point, apart from the Rod Reiss Titan and Eren's Founding Titan form. When Armin later inherits the power, his entry lists the same 60 m form.
The 14 to 17 m range of the Female, Attack, Armored and Beast Titans is small by comparison, and some Titan forms are smaller still. Attack on Titan ANSWERS gives Eren's pure Titan form as about 4 m, the Cart Titan controlled by Pieck as 4 m, and Ymir's Jaw Titan as 5 m. In other words, the "Nine Titans" vary in height by a factor of 15.
The Walls as a yardstick
The series sets its scale with its architecture. The Attack on Titan Wiki's entry on the Walls says they reached about 50 m from bottom to top, and that Wall Maria was the same height. That single number explains the famous opening image: at 60 m, the Colossal Titan is the one thing tall enough to look over a 50 m wall. A 15 m Titan, by contrast, reaches less than a third of the way up. The Colossal Titan page shows it beside the Wall and real landmarks.
Manga and anime agree
Adaptations often change a character's proportions, but Attack on Titan's height data is consistent across formats. The anime ran from 2013 to 2023, with Wit Studio producing the first three seasons and MAPPA the final season. The wiki keeps separate pages for anime versions of key characters, and they carry the same figures as the manga pages: Bertholdt's anime entry gives 192 cm in human form and 60 m as the Colossal Titan, matching the Character Encyclopedia. The Colossal Titan's 60 m height is cited to the first anime episode as well as to the encyclopedia, so whichever version you watched or read, the scale is the same.
How the cast compares with real people
The human cast of Attack on Titan is tall by real-world standards. The CDC's 2021–2023 NHANES survey puts the average US man at 175.1 cm and the average US woman at 161.2 cm. Against those figures:
- Six of the nine men in the table stand about 8 cm or more above the US male average: Bertholdt, Jean, Erwin, Reiner, Eren and Zeke. Connie is 5 cm above it, and only Armin (169 cm) and Levi (160 cm) fall below it.
- Mikasa, at 176 cm, is about 15 cm taller than the average US woman and slightly taller than the average US man. Sasha (173 cm) and Ymir (172 cm) are also well above the female average. Hange, whose gender the series leaves open, is listed at 170 cm.
- Three women fall below the US female average: Pieck (155 cm), Annie (153 cm) and Historia (145 cm).
The series is set in a fictional world rather than modern Japan or America, so these comparisons are only a reference point. They do show how unusual Levi's height is among the Survey Corps leadership: at 160 cm he is shorter than every adult man on the list and shorter than Mikasa, Sasha, Ymir and Hange.
Comparing Titans with real landmarks
Titan heights are easiest to understand next to real structures. The 60 m Colossal Titan is about two-thirds of the Statue of Liberty's 93 m from ground to torch, and taller than the copper statue itself, which the National Park Service measures at 46 m from base to torch. Eren in human form, at 183 cm, is about one-eighth the height of his own 15 m Attack Titan.
To see the full spread, put Levi, Eren and the Colossal Titan into the 3D height comparison tool, or use the height difference calculator to work out exact gaps between any two characters. The characters hub collects every franchise on the site if you want to see how the Survey Corps compares with heroes from other series.
Frequently asked questions
How tall is Eren Yeager after the timeskip?
183 cm (6′0″). The Attack on Titan Guidebook lists him at 170 cm in the year 850, and the Character Encyclopedia FINAL gives 183 cm for 854, after the four-year timeskip, a gain of 13 cm.
Which character grew the most during the timeskip?
Connie Springer. The guidebook lists him at 158 cm in 850, and the Character Encyclopedia FINAL gives 180 cm in 854, a jump of 22 cm that takes him from one of the shortest cadets to one of the taller ones. Jean Kirstein grew 15 cm, from 175 cm to 190 cm.
Is the Colossal Titan taller than the Walls?
Yes. The Colossal Titan is 60 m tall, while the Walls are about 50 m high, which is why it can peer over the top of the Walls when it appears in the first episode. It is roughly four times the height of the 15 m Titan forms such as the Attack and Armored Titans.
Is Levi really only 160 cm tall?
Yes. The Attack on Titan Guidebook lists Levi Ackerman at 160 cm (5′3″) and 65 kg, and that figure is unchanged after the timeskip. Eren, at 183 cm, ends the series 23 cm taller than his captain.
What are the smallest of the Nine Titans?
Among the forms with published heights, the Cart Titan and Eren's pure Titan form are each about 4 m, and Ymir's Jaw Titan about 5 m, according to Attack on Titan ANSWERS. That is a fraction of the 15 m Attack and Armored Titans.
Why do some characters have two heights?
Official guidebooks were published at different points in the story. The Attack on Titan Guidebook covers the cadets in the year 850, when most were about 15, while the Character Encyclopedia FINAL covers 854. This site uses the later, adult figures.
Who is the tallest Attack on Titan character?
Colossal Titan is the tallest Attack on Titan character in our list at 60 m (197 ft).
Who is the shortest Attack on Titan character?
Historia Reiss is the shortest at 145 cm (4′9″).
What is the average height of Attack on Titan characters?
The average of the 16 human-sized characters listed here is 173.6 cm (5′8″). For comparison, the average US man is 175.1 cm and the average US woman 161.2 cm (CDC).
